Safety:Very safe

Koh Mak is generally a very safe destination for solo female travelers. The locals are friendly and respectful. It's a relaxed and quiet island with low crime rates. However, like any other place, it's still important to keep your personal belongings secure and be mindful of your surroundings, especially if you're out late at night alone. It's also advisable to let someone know your plans for the day.

Transport:Easy

Navigation around Koh Mak is generally straightforward. This tropical island isn't overly large, making it easy to explore by either foot or reasonably priced rentals such as bikes and scooters. However, lack of road signs and occasional rough terrains could pose minor difficulties. Hence, it is advisable for travelers to have a reliable map or GPS system at hand.

Things to do:Interesting

Koh Mak is abundant in scenic beauty. It's a bit less bustling compared to other islands, making it perfect for those who are seeking tranquility and relaxation. There are several beautiful beaches where you can sunbathe or swim. There's also opportunity for kayaking and snorkeling. You can explore the local rubber and coconut plantations or visit the local Buddhist temple. It might lack some adventurous activities compared to larger islands but it is nonetheless perfect for a peaceful retreat.

Food:Above average

Koh Mak, offers a wonderful variety of Thai cuisine which is as rich as it is diverse. Plenty of seafood options are available due to its coastal location. There is also a good mix of local and international dishes. The frequency of vegetarian options could be better though.

Budget:Moderate

Koh Mak is moderately budget-friendly. It isn't as cheap as some of the other islands in Thailand, but you can still survive on a decent budget with economical accommodation and meal options available. However, activities and exploration can bring up the total cost.

Solo travel experience

Koh Mak is a wonderful, very safe, small island. There are lot of nice beaches. Some of them are in front of a resort, some beaches are wild and there are only a few other people. It's perfect if you're searching for a quite place. I would recommend to also visit Koh Kham from here. :)
