How safe is Krabi?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Safe

Krabi is generally safe for solo female travelers in the evening, particularly in bustling areas where there are numerous locals and other tourists. However, like any other tourist destination, it is important to stay in populated places and avoid secluded areas. Precautionary measures such as not displaying expensive jewelry, keeping your belongings close, and using licensed taxis when necessary can further ensure your safety. The local people are welcoming and crimes against tourists are comparatively lower.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Krabi is generally considered safe for solo female travelers. Local buses, taxis, and tuk-tuks are widely available for travel. The drivers are professional and most of them are accustomed to a diverse range of tourists. However, it is recommended to have the exact address of your destination readily available, as language barriers can sometimes create misunderstandings. Although incidents are rare, remain alert during night time travel or in less crowded areas.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Krabi is generally peaceful and locals are quite respectful towards tourists. Street harassment is relatively low compared to many other tourist locations. However, it's important to remember that circumstances can vary and you should always remain alert and cautious. Always respect the local culture and customs, and dress modestly to avoid unwanted attention.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Krabi generally boasts a peaceful environment especially for tourists but petty crime like pickpocketing is still a possibility. The level of crime is relatively low compared to other places, largely due to the presence of local law enforcement and Thailand's focus on maintaining a secure atmosphere for tourists. However, you should always keep an eye on your belongings and be aware of distraction schemes particularly in crowded areas or tourist hot spots. It's important to remember, though, that such incidents are rare and most visitors have trouble-free visits.

My three sons and I recently took a trip to Krabi, Thailand, and it was an incredible experience. We spent our days island hopping, exploring the stunning landscapes and crystal-clear waters. Snorkeling was a highlight, as we marveled at the vibrant marine life and colorful coral reefs. We watched the sunset, creating perfect, serene moments to end our days. The overall experience was truly wonderful and filled with joy. Not only were the activities exciting, but everything was also very affordable. We were pleasantly surprised by how cheap the prices were, allowing us to fully enjoy our trip without worrying about the cost. The local food was another delight—delicious and flavorful, making every meal a treat. The people we met were incredibly friendly and welcoming, adding to the positive vibe of our vacation. The weather is consistently good regardless the monsoon season already started, with plenty of sunshine that made our outdoor adventures even more enjoyable. All in all, our time in Krabi was unforgettable, and we left with cherished memories and a sense of happiness that will last a long time.

Family travel

We were in Krabi for 4days/3night in August 2022 and it’s a pretty safe place. It’s around 3hrs by drive from patong beach phuket and it cost us $80 for a private van. We stayed in a lovely 4-star hotel called Sea Seeker Krabi Resort which is around 10 mins walk to Ao Nang beach. I booked a deluxe pool access room for $125/night ehile my sister booked a deluxe cliffstone view room for $40/night. Their room rates included breakfast buffet. It’s super easy to get around Krabi. You can walk to Ao Nang beach, or take a tuktuk around. We also booked our island tours through the hotel’s reception the day we arrived, we did the whole day phi-phi island tour the next day and the half day 4-island tour the following day. Itinerary: Day 1: - We arrived around noon 1pm and they allowed us to checkin in early. Around 4pm we went to Ao Nang beach to watch the sunset and around 6pm we walked to the nearby ight market and that’s where we had our dinner. Day 2: - The tour company picked us up from our hotel around 8am for our Phi-phi island tour. When we arrived, we registered and waited for the boat to leave at 9am. By 5pm we were back to dock and they dropped us back to our hotel (btw, lunch, snacks and drinks are included) - after dinner, I went to get a 2 massage :) Day 3: - The tour company picked us up from our hotel at 8am for our 4-island tour. We were back at the hotel by 2pm (lunch and drinks are included) - In the afternoon, we enjoyed hangout at the hotel’s pool while sipping our cocktails from the pool bar. (The limestone rocks view from the pool is just amazing) Day 4: - we arranged a van from the hotel to take us to Krabi airport for our flight to Bangkok.
