Safety:Very safe

Palma is generally a safe city for solo female travelers. The locals are welcoming and friendly, and there are plenty of public spaces and tourist spots that are well-lit and populated. However, as with any destination, it's always essential to be cautious and aware of your surroundings, especially at night. According to the local police reports, the likelihood of serious crime is low, but petty crimes like pickpocketing can occasionally occur in crowded areas, so it's advisable to keep your belongings close to you. Keeping these precautions in mind should lead to a safe and enjoyable trip.

Transport:Easy

Palma de Mallorca offers a convenient and accessible way to explore its stunning landscapes and historical sites. Most of the significant places are within walking distance from the city center. Furthermore, there's an extensive array of public transportation, such as buses, that are frequent, affordable, and relatively easy to use, even if you don't speak Spanish. However, the city traffic can be quite heavy in peak hours, which may cause delays.

Things to do:Interesting

Palma is a treasure just waiting to be explored. This city offers numerous attractions from historical landmarks to stunning beaches. History lovers will definitely be taken with the awe-inspiring architecture of the Palma Cathedral and the Royal Palace of La Almudaina. Those interested in arts and culture can delve into the collections housed at the Es Baluard Museum. Other attractions include the lively Mercat de l'Olivar food market, Palma Aquarium, and Bellver Castle which features a magnificent circular design. The city offers diverse dining experiences ranging from local Spanish cuisine to international flavors. Strolls along the marina and the cobbled streets of the old town will lead you to quaint shops and cafes. However, English is not universally spoken amd it does get crowded in peak tourist season.

Food:Above average

Palma is home to a wide array of gastronomy ranging from traditional Spanish cuisine to more global food choices influenced by different cultures. While you will heavily enjoy the authentic tapas, seafood, and the famous Paella, you will also find a good number of options for vegans and vegetarians. Do not miss out on trying the local wines as well. There might be limitations in certain areas or smaller eateries if you're looking for more international cuisine. However, in general, the vibrant food culture offers quite a feast for the palate.

Budget:Moderate

Palma offers a reasonable balance between cost and experience. The price of culinary delights, accommodations, and local transportation are moderately priced. However, attractions and activities may vary in cost, with some being quite expensive. While there are opportunities for saving, including the exploration of natural beauty on the free beaches or hiking trails around, Palma is not the cheapest European destination. It's manageable if you plan and budget appropriately.

Palma is the beautiful capital of Mallorca - the island of light. It has a historic center with a lot of sites to visit - the most famous one is the cathedral. You find an outstanding number of national and international restaurants with good prices for delicious food and also some shopping areas. The beach is in walking distance - as well as the Harbour, where you can start your trip on a boat. The people are very open and relaxed; it is a place to spend a wonderful time. ☀️

Couple travel experience

We stayed in Palma and each day we visited a beach somewhere or another town. We didnt spend much time in Palma, we mostly visited old town there. I was kinda disappointed to see everything closing early - around 10 pm. Apparently, the other part of the town is much more lively with a better nightlife - i gathered that from one evening, when we had dinner there. However, Palma felt pretty safe to me. During the day the old town is nice and has a great atmosphere, there is a lot of nice boutique shops. But as I said, we mostly visited other places. We got around with bus and we used a train once. Buses are very great, make sure to check the schedule. Also it is much cheaper if you pay by credit card directly on the bus (if there is more of you, pay everything with one card since you get a discount) - except the bus from airport, which costs 5e/person. we stayed in a room with privet bathroom in a rental unit, a few minutes of walking to the centre. I would recommend visiting Cala des Moro - since it is very popular, there is a lot of tourists, but it was beautiful. I wasnt as impressed by Cala Pi. We also liked Manacor and Porto Cristo. What I liked the most was Valdemossa - a small town in the mountains. It is very pretty, a lot of local bars and boutique shops. I really enjoyed it there. I would recommed eating a seafood paella once, since it is the local dish. We also went for tapas and wine. We really liked alioli and olives. We visited La Rosa - a tapas restaurant in Palma. The vibe and food are amazing, maybe it is a bit pricier, but still accessible. However, I would really advice you to make a reservation - thet goes pretty much for every restaurant you want to visit. Also visiting Can Joan de sAigo is a must if you ask me. You get traditional pastries and good coffee and the price is very good. We ate breakfast there a couple times, however it also thends to get busy. All in all the trip was amazing, we got the most of it. We stayed for a week and spet around 600e per person (including accomodation) or something like that. I would say that you can sped less, depending on what you want to do or see. If you visit Mallorca for beaches and nature, maybe it is better to stay on another part of the town - see which one has best access. If I went again, I would stay in Palma for 2 nights and 5 nights somewhere maybe a bit more on the east of the islad, since I think that is where you find (or can access easier) most of the pretty beaches.

Group travel experience

I can highly recommend Mallorca. Especially in off season, the nature is beautiful and you can visit most places on your own, no other tourists. We loves it but you should know that during off season, many restaurants are closed.

Hello everyone! 🍉 My name is Najet, I'm a Moroccan/French girl born and raised in Lille, North of France. I'm open-minded and optimistic, I try to see what's good in people and humanity. In my free time I like to go out with my friends for a drink or a nice restaurant or simply a walk in the city. I love French and Indian cuisine. I also like to cook (when I'm not tired after work) and share a good Moroccan meal with friends and with you maybe. PHILOSOPHY MAY YOUR CHOICES REFLECT YOUR HOPES NOT YOUR FEARS. "We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity." The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho
