Safety index

Safety at night:Safe

Mallorca is generally considered a safe destination even at night. But as always, vigilance is key. Stick to well-lit, populated areas and avoid walking alone on deserted streets or beaches. Public transport and taxis are reliable and safe to use. Instances of crime are typically low in the tourist areas. Of course, exercising general precautions like being aware of your surroundings, not flashing valuables and maintaining a sober state of mind can further enhance your safety.

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Mallorca, is generally safe and reliable. Buses and trains run regularly to various parts of the island and are often used by locals and tourists alike. Being an island popular with tourists, safety standards are of high priority. However, like with any public transportation, always be mindful of your belongings and your surroundings, especially during peak tourist seasons or crowded periods.

Street harassment:Low

Mallorca is generally a safe destination for solo female travelers. Street harassment is not a common occurrence, as the locals are typically respectful. However, as with any travel destination, it's always important to be alert and take appropriate safety precautions.

Petty crimes:Low

Though Mallorca is a generally safe destination, petty crimes like pickpocketing or bag snatching can occur, especially in crowded tourist areas. As is the case in any locale, awareness of your surroundings and precautions with personal belongings can greatly reduce this risk.

Tap water:Safe

Tap water in Mallorca is generally safe to drink. It is treated and controlled following the European Union's strict regulations and safety measures. However, due to the water's high mineral content, the flavor may be unusual to some visitors. While it's safe, some travelers and locals choose to drink bottled water for taste preferences.

Family travel experience

I recommend Mallorca for female solo travels. It’s a safe island. You can have beach life and nightlife. The island is quite small, but I recommend to rent a car and visit it, driving is safe, the routes are well maintained.

Solo travel experience

Spent a few days walking, hiking, and swimming. So much to see and so much accessible by foot or bike (lots of cyclists and rentals everywhere). Incredible beaches (sandy on one side, rocky on the other). Super safe, stress-free place. Absolutely recommend it for solo travel.

Group travel experience

We felt very safe during our stay, I can recommend booking a “Finca” instead of a hotel! There are many houses (for example on Airbnb) with great prices if you’re planning on going with a group of people (so the prices can split). Santanyí has some great restaurants! Our favourite has been “Anoa” - we’ve been there twice in a week.

Solo travel experience

I recently returned from a short solo trip to Majorca. I felt very safe there. I even left my belongings on the beach, but for peace of mind, I kept my phone, documents, and money in a waterproof case. I didn't experience any discomfort traveling around the island.

Solo travel experience

Mallorca was beautiful, warm, and I felt safe there. On the first day, I visited Palmanova and relaxed on the beach. It was pleasant, but too cold to swim. The next day, I took a bus to Palma and did a sightseeing tour around the city, stopping at the castle. I also took part in a boat trip. The cathedral in Palma was stunning. Then I walked around the city. On the third day, I boarded a hundred-year-old train from Palma to Soller, which was the best part of my trip.
