Alicante was my first solo trip, and as a woman, I was initially nervous because you always hear stories about what could happen. However, I don’t think I could have chosen a better place in terms of safety, convenience, and the kindness of its people. I truly felt safe at all times. The locals are incredibly friendly—one time, I accidentally got on the wrong bus and didn’t have battery on my phone. I approached a girl for help, and she kindly assisted me in getting on the right bus. The food is absolutely AMAZING. If you’re looking for authentic paella, you simply must visit the Comunitat Valenciana area it’s the real deal! Alicante exceeded my expectations and gave me the confidence to embrace solo travel. I can’t recommend it enough to anyone considering their own adventure.

Spain
Awesome city with great city-beach and wonderful culture and winter climate! Endless restaurants and yummy fresh fruits and veggies. Spain’s largest indoor market as well as neighborhood mercadillos. Highly recommended for city-with-beach travel 🌟
Posted: September 6, 2024Amazing, friendly environment. Locals help you with learning the language. People may be flirtatious but will respect you and you will feel safe. Nice food, may take longer to prepare. Welcoming locals
Posted: April 20, 2024I had a great time in Alicante ! I will recommend to visit the Santa Barbara castle, the central market, l'esplanada d'Espanya and of course eat a paella ! Alicante is a lovely city that can be explored in 2-3 days. So if you got more time than that, i'll recommend to go to Altea which is, in my opinion a must see!

My trip was way too short I recommend staying for at least a couple days! The Santa Barbara Castle is a must but I also highly recommend getting lost in the old town streets just underneath it. No shortage of options for food and drink and it has a beautiful beach for warmer days too!

There is the occasional catcall but nothing to be worried about. The centre is so safe. It’s always busy so if anything happens there’s always someone to ask for help. I felt very safe at night time walking home too. There are some not so safe areas but there isn’t really any need to go there if you stay in the centre it’s all just houses.

Spain is in general a safe country. You always need to be cautious as you never know, but I have walked home after a party night and never happened anything to me. Anyways, you can always take a taxi, they are safe. Same as the rest of the public transport. You can get robbed, that is more frequent. Especially at the beach it is important not to leave your personal belongings alone.
