Is Perugia good for solo travel?

Safety:

Safety:Very safe

Perugia is central Italy's notable city in the region of Umbria, known for its universities and rich historical sites. Generally, it's safe for solo female travelers with a good safety record, especially during daytime hours. However, like any other city, it advisable to stay alert and avoid deserted areas at night. Public transportation and taxis are reliable, and local people are generally helpful and respectful. It's a destination where common sense precautions will ensure your visit as a solo traveler is enjoyable.
Transport:

Transport:Moderate

Perugia, while it offers stunning historical sights and interesting walking routes, can be moderately challenging due to its hilly terrain and narrow streets. It possesses a mini metro, buses, and taxis, but most locals and tourists prefer to navigate the city on foot. Knowing some Italian can be advantageous as not everyone speaks fluent English.
Things to do:

Things to do:Interesting

Perugia is quite an intriguing destination due to its rich history and architecture. As a solo female traveler, you would enjoy exploring its medieval old town, stunning palaces and beautiful views over the Umbria region. The city also offers a vibrant student life, excellent cuisine and wines, and interesting museums, such as the Umbria National Gallery. Keep in mind that while it's beautiful and full of things to do, it might not have as many attractions as some of the larger Italian cities.
Food:

Food:Above average

Perugia offers an array of delicious Italian regional meals. There is a strong focus on classical Umbrian cuisine, resulting in hearty, rustic dishes made with fresh and local ingredients. You can feast upon a fantastic assortment of pastas, cheeses, truffles, and meat dishes. Remember to also savor the heavenly local wines and the world-famous Baci chocolates. However, if you're looking for more global cuisine options, you might find it slightly limiting here. Overall, the dining experience in Perugia is fabulous, but slightly limited in diversity.
Budget:

Budget:Moderate

Perugia could be termed as medium-range when it comes to its budget-friendliness. Living expenses here are lower compared to many other touristic cities in Italy, especially those in the northern regions. However, a visit to this central Italian city can become costly if you're interested in high-end dining or luxury shopping. Accommodations are available at a variety of price points and many historic sites and natural attractions are free to visit, which could help keep your overall costs reasonable.

About me

Hi! I’m Giorgia, I study psychology and philosophy at the University of Perugia and I currently live there now. I work as a baby sitter in a part time job and I love travelling! I like travelling alone but my everyday problem was always the fact to be a woman, because you know girls what I mean. If you are an alone woman travelling, everything might be more dangerous than what you expect about the sleeping, hanging around during the night, public transports etc… Anyway, I do say that I would love visiting every country of the world! Literally!
