I'd say Győr is quite a safe place to visit. During the day i have no fear of walking in the city. There are stranger people near the train station, and sometimes in public transport, but I have no bad experience yet. People ask for money, but don't hurt you if you refuse to give. Not all bars are safe, you always have to keep your eyes on your drink, and never accept drinks from anyone.
Posted: June 7, 2024Gyor is a relatively safe city, especially during daytime and if you don’t really wander away from the city center. It is fairly okay during nighttime to, I had to go home after partying alone a few times, and it was okay. Though if you want to be extra safe I recommend not going out alone late, because somtimes there are a few drunks on the street. On the other hand they dont harm anyone usually, and also other people can be helpfull and kind.

According to my experience Győr • is quite safe city to travel even if you're going solo • however there are people who ask for money, but they aren't so dangerous • the center is quite beautiful, there are baroque style squares, buildings • has a lot of restaurants, coffeeshops, pubs • the price are low in comparison to Western European countries (in better places the dinner costs about 12 euro) • you can take a walk in the city, go cinema, visit the Zoo I would recommend this "small" city if you consider coming to Hungary.
