Safety:Very safe

Zacharo is a small town in the Peloponnese region of Greece where locals are known for their hospitality. It's both safe and welcoming, with low crime rates and an overall peaceful atmosphere. As with any place, it's advisable to maintain normal precautions, such as avoiding deserted areas at night and securing your valuables. However, incidences of crime affecting tourists are extremely rare. The locals are often more than willing to assist tourists and make their stay enjoyable. Added to that, the size of the town also makes it easy to familiarize yourself with the area quickly. Therefore, it presents a secure environment for solo female travelers.

Transport:Moderate

Zacharo, being a small town, is relatively easy to navigate on foot or bike. However, for longer distances or to reach popular attractions such as Kaiafas Lake or the Temple of Apollo Epicurius, one might need to get a cab or a car rental. The town isn't well connected with public transportation, making some travel planning necessary.

Things to do:Moderate

Zacharo is modestly captivating. The alluring beaches, particularly the Kaiafas Beach, offer serene beauty and seclusion. The opportunity to enjoy water sports or simply soak the sun makes it enjoyable. The olive groves and the stunning natural environment offer good spots for hiking and walking. Archaeological sites nearby add a touch of history and culture to your visit. While it might be missing out on a bustling nightlife scene or a wide array of tourist hangouts, its natural charm compensates adequately.

Food:Above average

The food in Zacharo is varied, offering a rich gastronomic experience that combines both traditional Greek and local flavors. The region is known for its fresh seafood, locally produced olive oil, and exceptional wines. You can enjoy regional dishes made from locally-sourced ingredients that create a memorable culinary experience. Some chef's special recipes might even surprise you with their innovation in bringing together local and international flavors. However, options for vegetarian or vegan travelers might be somewhat limited, calling for a slightly lower rating.

Budget:Affordable

Zacharo is quite affordable. Local food, accommodations and public transportation are relatively low cost, however prices can go higher at prime tourist locations. Visiting attractions, such as the nearby Kaiafas lake and thermal spa, come with reasonable fees. For the frugal traveler who plans wisely, this location definitely has the potential to be budget-friendly.
