Safety:Very safe

Skiathos, is generally safe for solo female travelers. Local people are often friendly and willing to assist tourists. Common areas and tourist spots are well-patrolled. However, like any tourist destination, it's important to always take standard precautions. This includes not walking alone at night in isolated areas, being wary of strangers, and guarding your belongings.

Transport:Easy

Skiathos is fairly easy to navigate. The island's small size allows for travelers to easily explore without requiring extensive transport methods. There are well-marked walking trails for those who prefer to explore on foot and various forms of easily available local public transportation. However, during peak travel times, tourist traffic can lead to delays. Also, remember that some remote beaches may not be very accessible without a boat.

Things to do:Interesting

Skiathos is a beautiful island rich in natural beauty and adventure. It is an excellent place for beach lovers, as it boasts over 60 stunning beaches to choose from- each unique in its own right. For more adventurous travelers, hiking trails offer intriguing exploration opportunities. Historical sites such as Kastro, a medieval castle, provide glimpses into the rich history of the island. Moreover, it is filled with charming towns offering local shopping locations and traditional Greek cuisine in various restaurants. It’s an ideal place for relaxation and adventure, but its small size may limit the variety of activities for some travellers.

Food:Above average

Skiathos offers a remarkable culinary experience. The Island showcases its deep Greek culinary traditions with its various local dishes bathed in olive oil, abundant seafood dishes ranging from squid to fresh fish, and appetizing traditional sweets. One can enjoy the dynamic comfort of home-cooked meals while embracing the beautiful sea view. However, the appeal for food diversity might seem a bit lacking for some as the cuisine is primarily centered around Greek traditional foods.

Budget:Moderate

Skiathos, while not the most expensive, is not the cheapest either. Accommodation and food can be quite affordable, especially if you choose to go during the shoulder season (spring or fall). However, some popular activities such as boating and visiting beach clubs can increase the overall cost of the trip.

Is Skiathos worth visiting?

Solo travel experience

My first solo trip was to Skiathos in Greece, I can't recommend it enough. It's a beautiful island and I felt really safe there as a solo female traveler. Besides, it's not too expensive there.

I have been to many Greek islands and my absolute favorite is Skiathos. It's a beautiful place, people are extremely nice, and moreover, the island was not crowded. The local nightlife is also at a very good level. I definitely recommend it 100%.
