Safety:Very safe

Paros is generally safe for solo female travelers. It is a popular tourist destination and locals are used to and respectful towards foreigners. Violent crimes rate is extremely low, and in case of any issues, local police is generally helpful. As with any destination, it's always important to maintain common sense safety precautions, such as not walking alone late at night in deserted areas, and taking care of personal belongings, but overall, females should feel comfortable travelling alone in Paros.

Transport:Easy

Getting around Paros is quite manageable. There are plenty of options such as local buses, taxis, car rentals, and mopeds. The island is relatively small, so travel distances are not extensive and the locals are typically helpful if you lose your way. However, certain locations might not be easily navigable by public transport, so renting a vehicle can be beneficial.

Things to do:Interesting

Paros offers a solid variety of activities that ranges from outdoor adventures to indulging in the local culture. This island is home to numerous beautiful beaches where you can relax or engage in water sports. Historical landmarks such as the Panagia Ekatontapiliani can pique the interest of history lovers, while towns like Naoussa and Parikia provide a great exploration opportunity with their charming aesthetics and local shops. Moreover, the local food is incredibly fresh and the nightlife lively, providing a comprehensive travel experience.

Food:Above average

Paros is definitely worth a visit from a culinary perspective. The island offers a wide variety of traditional Greek dishes including freshly caught fish, local cheeses, honey, wines and olives, all with a unique Parian twist. You'll also find a number of great Vegan and Gluten-free options. However, it might lack a bit in offering international cuisine. Be prepared for a delightful food journey into Greek cuisine on Paros.

Budget:Moderate

Paros offers a moderate cost experience. Accommodations range from low-cost hostels to high-end luxury hotels. Eating out can be relatively inexpensive if you stick to local food joints, but would cost more at upscale restaurants. Transportation within Paros is quite affordable, especially if you opt for buses or rental bikes. Activities also range, with plenty of free sightseeing opportunities as well as paid guided tours. Therefore, budgeting largely depends on your personal preference and travel style.

Is Paros worth visiting?

Solo travel experience

Last summer, I travelled among the Greek islands - my advice would be to choose Paros over Santorini and Mykonos, if you intend to visit just one island. Paros offers everything at the same level/quality as the two I mentioned (it's beautiful), but it's much calmer (the others were unpleasantly crowded), less pretentious and much more affordable, simply because it's not as popular. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy my stays on the other two islands, I did, but I definitely won't come back there when the other islands are much nicer.

Solo travel experience

Paros is really a cool place! Stay at the Paros Backpackers hostel (near the port), it's a super sociable place with a roof where everyone meets and spends time! Definitely worth taking a day trip to Antiparos and also to Naousa (a really nice part of the island, but it costs more to stay there). Buses are very easy to understand and it's really a cheap way to get around all the islands.
