Safety:Very safe

Naxos is generally safe for solo female travelers. The locals are friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed, and crime rates are low. There is rarely problem when it comes to physical safety. However, as it's a popular tourist spot, there can be occasional petty thefts or scams targeting tourists, like in any other tourist destination. Basic precautions like being aware of your surroundings, not leaving your belongings unattended, and using only reputable transportation services should be enough to ensure a safe trip.

Transport:Easy

Naxos is quite manageable for solo female travelers as the locals are friendly and it's safe even at night. You can explore picturesque villages, ancient sites, and stunning beaches. Public transport like buses and boats are reliable and cover most of the island. Rental options such as cars and scooters are also available if you desire more flexibility. Walking is doable in the town proper. The only challenge can be navigating the island's interior where bus routes are less frequent.

Things to do:Interesting

Naxos is rich in historical landmarks, stunning landscapes, and beautiful beaches. It offers a good mix of activities such as hiking, exploring traditional Greek villages, and watersports. There's also a wealth of gastronomic experiences to be had, with local delicacies and seafood. The island has a relaxed atmosphere and is relatively less touristy compared to other Greek islands. Plus, it's a safe and friendly destination for solo female travelers.

Food:Above average

Eating in Naxos is a delight. The island offers a broad range of food options, combining traditional Greek dishes with contemporary cuisine. Fresh local products, such as cheese, olive oil, or wine enhance the overall food experience. Seafood is particularly delightful, served straight from the Aegean Sea. Of course, there's also an array of vegetarian-friendly Greek staples like moussaka or dolmades. However, international cuisine is a bit limited.

Budget:Moderate

Naxos falls in the mid-range when it comes to budget. The cost of living and traveling here is not as expensive as places like Mykonos, but it’s slightly more costly than other mainland Greek cities. Accommodation can be found at reasonable prices, especially outside the peak summer season. Eating out can also be affordable if you choose tavernas and local eateries over high-end restaurants. However, activities, tours and transportations can add up.

Solo travel experience

I really loved Naxos. It has a wonderful old town with shops and galleries, ancient mountain towns, and just a great atmosphere. I have visited Crete, Santorini, Amorgos, Naxos, and Milos, and Naxos was my favorite.

Solo travel experience

Naxos is charming, I really liked it and felt safe there. The beaches were very clean, and there was a lot to do and see. Plenty of choices for places to eat, drink, and stay, and it wasn't too crowded.

Group travel experience

I went to Naxos last summer and it was wonderful! We stayed in a guesthouse in Agios Prokopios to be close to the beach. There was an outdoor cinema there, which was great fun, and we organized a boat trip through a local travel agency, which departed from Agia Anna and visited Koufonisi, which was beautiful!
