Is Mykonos worth visiting solo?

Safety:Very safe

Mykonos is generally a safe destination for solo female travelers. The locals are hospitable and there's a lively expatriate community that can help you feel at ease. Most cases of crime involve petty thefts like pickpocketing, especially in crowded tourist areas. Therefore it is always recommended to exercise normal precautions, especially at night. Public transport is reliable and easily accessible. However, it's advisable to avoid secluded areas or beaches after dark unless you're in an organized group.

Transport:Easy

Mykonos is quite manageable for solo female travelers. The island is compact and the locals are friendly. There are numerous ways to get around including cabs, buses, and even walking for shorter distances. However, some rural areas lack proper public transportation, requiring rentals or rideshares.

Things to do:Interesting

Mykonos offers a rich array of activities that cater to different interests. Breath-taking beaches serve as an excellent place for relaxation. The shimmering clear waters allow for delightful swimming, snorkeling, and various water sports. There are many remarkable historical sites such as the well-preserved Windmills and the archaeological site of Delos which is a short boat trip away. For art enthusiasts, numerous art galleries, as well as the Folklore Museum, offer insights into the island's culture. Additionally, charming boutiques, traditional tavernas, and upscale restaurants around the streets of Mykonos Town ensure an enjoyable shopping and culinary experience. However, it can be pretty crowded during the high season.

Food:Above average

The food scene in Mykonos is truly unique and diverse. You can find a beautiful mix of traditional Greek cuisine, fresh seafood, and international dishes. Locally sourced ingredients are a big focus here, ensuring your meals are fresh and flavorful. The island is also renowned for its cheese and wine. However, vegetarian and vegan options might be slightly limited.

Budget:Expensive

Mykonos, while charming and beautiful, is known for being one of the more expensive Greek islands to visit. Accommodation, eating out, and local transportation are above average in cost compared to other locations in Greece.

Mykonos is a party island and promotes itself in this way. I had a good time on this island, but I'm not the party type. Two or three days were enough to explore the island.

Solo travel experience

This is terribly touristic and expensive, and without friends, it's not so fun anymore. The party scene was difficult to understand for a young, lonely woman... unfortunately, I was sexually harassed in a club.

Solo travel experience

I loved Mykonos. I stayed at the Palladium Boutique Hotel and it was easily accessible, located near 3 beaches and Little Venice. Kastos is my favorite restaurant, but it was a bit expensive. I would not recommend the Buddha Bar, it was overrated and the food was just okay.
