Safety:Very safe

Meteora is a remarkably safe destination for solo female travelers. The locals are friendly and willing to help out tourists, there is a low crime rate, and public transport connections are reliable. Nevertheless, standard travel advice still applies - it's wise to avoid isolated areas after dark and always keep an eye on your belongings.

Transport:Moderate

Meteora's breathtaking landscapes are easily accessible if you're prepared for a bit of walking. Navigating the monasteries and rock formations takes some effort due to steep paths. Some areas may not be well marked, requiring attention and a good map. It is a manageable venture without a vehicle, but the journey may be tiring.

Things to do:Fascinating

Meteora is a captivating destination with an abundance of activities to pursue. The natural landscape is marked by giant rock formations, adding to the unique charm of the place. It is home to 6 monasteries that showcase a blend of stunning architecture and rich history. These attractions are not just a paradise for history and nature lovers, but also an adventure haven for hiking aficionados. Completing the experience are cozy local restaurants that serve traditional Greek cuisine, allowing you to indulge in gastronomic delights.

Food:Above average

Meteora, offers a delightful culinary scene presenting a wide range of traditional Greek cuisine. The area prides itself on locally sourced fresh ingredients, often crafted into dishes like moussaka, dolmades, and spanakopita. Vegetarian options are pretty common, and local tavernas often feature specials using seasonal produce. The presence of international cuisine is limited, but the rich tapestry of local dishes beautifully compensates for it. However, foodies with specific dietary restrictions or preferences should do a bit of research before dining.

Budget:Affordable

Meteora is quite budget-friendly. You can find affordable accommodations, inexpensive eating options, and the entrance fees to the monasteries are also reasonable. While transportation (like taxis) can be a bit expensive due to the area's mountainous terrain, you can mitigate this cost by joining group tours, walking or renting a bike. Therefore, it can be considered lean towards the more budget-friendly end of the scale.
