Safety:Safe

Ios is generally a safe destination for solo female travelers. Like any other location, it requires precaution, especially in crowded areas. The locals are warm and friendly, and the island's beaches, towns, and transportation are reputedly secure. However, it's important to stay alert during the lively nightlife scene to avoid any potential issues.

Transport:Easy

Navigating Ios is relatively straightforward. The island is small, and most important areas, such as the Chora (town), port, and popular beaches, are within a manageable distance from each other. There is an efficient local bus service connecting the main areas, while a variety of scooters and quad bikes are also available for rent if you prefer a more adventurous mode of transport. These options, coupled with the accessibility of taxi services, make getting around Ios much easier. However, some remote beaches and landmarks can be a bit difficult to reach without a private vehicle.

Things to do:Interesting

Ios is a beautiful island with a diverse range of activities. Its beautiful, sandy beaches are perfect for relaxing, swimming or diving. The island boasts charming white and blue architecture, wonderful for photography opportunities. Adventure lovers can enjoy hiking trails with breathtaking, panoramic views. The local tavernas offer a taste of authentic Greek cuisine and visiting historical sites, like the Tomb of Homer, makes for fascinating trips. But, note that nightlife is a major part of the island's vibe, and may not be suitable for everyone.

Food:Above average

Ios offers a range of delicious and fresh local cuisine, predominantly centered on Greek and Mediterranean flavors, with seafood being a stand-out. The island has plenty of options for both local and international meals to suit every palate. From traditional Greek tavernas to contemporary eateries serving international cuisine, culinary exploration in Ios is quite satisfying. However, it might be a little less diverse compared to larger cities globally. Ensure to try local dishes like Moussaka, Souvlaki, and local cheeses.

Budget:Moderate

Ios provides a balanced blend of affordability and splurge. Being a less popular island than Mykonos or Santorini, costs for accommodations and food tend to be lesser. Although, transportation and activities may possibly require a substantial part of your budget. It's recommended to plan wisely and prioritize your spends for a comfortable stay without breaking the bank.

Is Ios worth visiting?

Solo travel experience

Ios is an island full of parties and I felt like I was 100 years old there. Everyone in my hostel partied until 5 am. It's not quite my scene. But still, it's a beautiful island.
