Safety:Safe

Stuttgart is considered generally safe for solo female travelers. While it experiences the common safety issues of any large urban city, like occasional pickpocketing in crowded spaces like public transportation or tourist spots, violent crime is relatively low, and the city overall has a safe environment to walk around during both day and night. Just like in any other city, you should follow common safety precautions: avoid less crowded areas late at night, secure your valuables, and maintain awareness of your surroundings.

Transport:Easy

Stuttgart is quite easy to navigate with a variety of public transportation options available like buses, trams, and trains. The city also supports biking with many bike lanes. English signage is common, making it easier for foreign travelers. However, Stuttgart's hilly terrain might pose a slight challenge.

Things to do:Interesting

Stuttgart offers a wealth of activities that cater to various interests. History buffs will appreciate a visit to the Mercedes-Benz Museum or the Porsche Museum which delve into the story of these automobile giants. Nature lovers can lose themselves in the beauty of the Wilhelma Zoo and Botanical Gardens or take relaxing walks in the Palace Garden. Those interested in culture and art should not miss the State Gallery, which hosts a wide array of historical and contemporary artwork. Despite being a relatively quiet city, Stuttgart also has a vibrant nightlife with numerous clubs, bars, and restaurants. The city’s safety, coupled with its well-organized public transport system, makes it an easy destination to navigate and explore for solo female travelers.

Food:Above average

Stuttgart offers a delightful culinary experience, ranging from traditional Swabian dishes to international cuisine. Presenting a blend of upscale dining options and quaint local eateries, you're sure to enjoy a variety of flavors. However, while Stuttgart possesses an appealing food scene, it does not rival some larger cities in terms of diversity and breadth of international cuisine. If you're a food lover with an eye for various gastronomic adventures, the city delivers a solid experience, although there's still some room for improvement.

Budget:Moderate

Stuttgart falls in the mid-range in terms of budget-friendly cities for solo female travelers. Expenses like accommodation, transportation, and meals can vary significantly, making it possible to manage on a moderate budget. There are hostel options for accommodation and public transport is reliable. However, some attractions and dining can lean towards the pricier side. But overall, with some planning and wise choices, it can be an affordable European destination.

Solo travel experience

Stayed near the train station and felt safe walking around in the night (10pm or so). Main shopping street is lively even in the evening. Nice Central Park to sit and soak in the view. Try the local dishes like dumplings in soup and roast with potato dumplings.

Local tips

Sweden

I have been living in Stuttgart for several years and would approve that Stuttgart in general is a safe city. Of course you might want to avoid some areas or district but the main areas are safe. Exploring a city by car is very stressful and expensive. Stuttgart is there no exclusion. I would recommend to use public transportation, which is really reliable and cheap (day pass for an adult for one zone like downtown is like 6€.
