I was in Valencia for a bit more than a week, and while I stayed with friends I got to explore the city a little bit. I particularly enjoyed to walk to the beaches, and to run through the park that used to be a river. My absolutely favorite thing was to visit the fresh food markets, and in particular the smaller local ones. My picture is from a market in Russafa. Even though I don't speak much Spanish, a few words and a positive attitude got me very far while speaking to the old market ladies. Que mas? Valencia has plenty of little cute shops, cafes and bars. Be aware that most places close at 14:00 or 15:00 for a mid day pause before re-opening for dinner later, so don't wait too long to eat your mid day meal. I didn't really go to any expensive paid attractions since I was mostly there to visit friends and see the city for the first time. It was enough for me to experience daily life in the city and enjoy the new food and drinks, figuring out the metro system and wrapping my head around everything unfamiliar. I would love to go back sometime.
Posted: May 10, 2025Experienced: March, 2025I got a very nice accommodation with an elderly woman, near the center. I enjoyed the sun, the very good food and the friendly atmosphere. Overall it was a marvelous experience, to walk through the streets, on the beach promenade, and meet new people everywhere.
Posted: April 23, 2025Experienced: July, 2023It is really save, everywhere where Police and so on. Also the City is very beautiful and affordable. There are many good restaurants and we stayed in an Hostel for 3 days. Not expensive like 20€ per Night(Cantagua Hostel) and it was really familiar.

I stayed at Cantagua Hostel and it was awesome! The staff is great and they offer great advise and group activities. Lots of cool day trips, best was the visit of Albufera and Albufera Natural Park and the beaches of course :) All in all very beautiful city, perfect for a short trip of 2-4 days.
Posted: January 20, 2025Valencia felt very safe, even at night in tourist areas. Must-visit: City of Arts and Sciences, Turia Gardens, Central Market, Malvarrosa Beach. Food: Try paella at Casa Carmela, horchata at Horchatería Santa Catalina, and tapas at Mercado de Colón. Budget: €50-70/day covered meals, transport, and attractions. I stayed in a boutique hostel in Ciutat Vella—clean, quiet, and well-located. Transport: Easy to navigate with walking, buses, metro and bike.

the good thing about Valencia, apart from visiting the city of science and the cathedral and various monuments in the historic center is that if you go down to the Turia, the large city park that used to be a river, you can practice an infinite number of sports and especially dance. there are lots of groups that offer various activities and Latin dances and more. the city is very safe but you always need to be a little careful. there are bars and restaurants on every corner to enjoy international food and the legendary paella. don't forget to take a nice trip to the beach, another place to practice sports and have a nice sunbath and swim.
Posted: September 18, 2024Experienced: August, 2024An unspoiled medieval city, with orange tree lined streets, charm and beautiful nature. I stayed near the quartz towers, hired a bike... The city and the beach I did as 2 seperate holidays Would definatley go back
Posted: September 8, 2024I feel very safe in Valencia, there are nice people, especially in Cabanyal. There is free entrance to the beach, you can get there by from city centre metro no.5 or by bus no. 32 or 19 (just 1,50 eur in cash for driver). Recomend to visit Ciudad de las Artes y Sciences. Also Cathedral (there Holy Grail), Torres Seranos, Central market, Museum of porcelain and get drink in Café de las Horas in centre. For salsa dancing you can visit Miky House Club or in the bars in port you can also dance.
Posted: August 30, 2024Experienced: July, 2024I felt safe during the evening and at night. Ive walked alone and partnered with my queer partner and it was fine. Older people might look sometimes but no one ever said anything to me. For food i recommend looking for “tapas, cerveceria, comida valenciana”, is cheaper and the quality tends to be much better. I suggest a slow nice walk in the Mercat Central and to try horchata.

I feel very safe in Valéncia. I can return home, alone on foot. Especially in avenues and the city center there are always people around. concerns always exist, but most of the times it's my mind and the fact that something is gonna happen
Posted: April 30, 2025During the day it feels completely safe everywhere and after dark until midnight even, because there are still a lot of people on the streets. I was told that some areas should be avoided at night alone as woman and one friend got his stuff stolen at the beach at night, but that is everything bad i noticed.
