Solo travel experience

Absolutely loved Romania. I spent time in Bucharest, Sibiu, Hunedoara, Sighişoara, Poiana Brasov, and Ceptura de Jos. Did the Transfagarasan road and a few of the Castles. The trip is one of my favorites. I drove it and found it easy to get around, the people warm and friendly, and very inexpensive.

Solo travel experience

I loved my time at the Black Sea beaches near Constanta. I only did a day trip to Transylvania and wish I had longer because it’s beautiful. I recommend the food tour "markets and mahallas" in Bucharest. Also loved the Romanian village museum in Bucharest.

Solo travel experience

I was with a group of friends but often pulled away from them to do my own thing. During my trip, I spent most of my time in Bucharest, staying in the Old Town area, and also in a rural villa near Brasov. Despite traveling alone, I felt safe and had no issues when using trains, trams, and buses to explore the local area. Even when I accidentally took a train in the wrong direction, I found that people were very willing to offer assistance when asked. One of my most vivid memories of the trip was how helpful and friendly the locals were. I even ventured to an area that was supposedly rough, Ferentari, but had no trouble navigating there and back to Old Town. I highly recommend staying in the Old Town area, which, while touristy, has a vibrant atmosphere and is always bustling with people. The Old Town bric-a-brac market was a particular highlight of my trip, as it had an eclectic mix of vintage designer and everyday jewelry, old money, maps, art, cameras, and other curiosities.
