Austria, known for its high safety standards, is usually very safe to walk around at night. Public transportation in Austria is extremely safe. The services such as buses, trams, and trains are highly reliable, clean and punctual. Tickets can be bought easily and the information is widely available. Services usually run late into the night, even in smaller towns. Nevertheless, as a solitary traveler, it's always wise to remain aware of your surroundings and personal belongings, especially during peak hours or at late night. Overall, public transportation in Austria offers a safe and efficient way to travel.

Austria, being a highly developed country, is generally quite safe for solo female travelers. The level of street harassment is comparatively low. The population is respectful and public spaces are well-regulated, making it a comfortable place to travel. That said, it's always important to remain aware and vigilant regardless of how safe a place may seem.

Petty crimes:Low

Austria is known to be one of the safest countries in Europe making petty crimes relatively low. The most common petty crime is pickpocketing, especially in crowded areas such as public transportation and popular tourist sites. Route: Days 1 & 2 - Vienna Days 3 - 5 - Salzburg (including day trips) Days 6 & 7 – Innsbruck Safety: Don't worry about safety. You won't have any problems. Recommendations: Public transport in Austria is quite good, in terms of coverage, price, and frequency.

Austria as a whole can be considered a very safe country. Kidnappings and similar are quasi non existent. What has been becoming a very sad and concerning issue in the past years are femizides. These are typically not random attacks but occur in partnerships.
