based on 4 experiences from female travelers
i felt safe as a woman traveling alone. small extremely beautiful city, perfect as a weekend getaway, a bit expensive but it’s alright for this kind of cities. not much to do if you stay longer and as a tip always check working hours
Posted: June 4, 2025Innsbruck is a great place to stay if you like the mountains. It's incredibly expensive, therfore only 4 stars, but you can be sure, that everything you buy, eat, do is out of good quality. The coffee is tasty and people are friendly, I felt very safe. If you are in a budget, avoid Innsbruck! If not, enjoy :)

Australia
I only spent a day/night there but the scenery is stunning from the whole town. You can walk along the river or head to the little mall where there's a rooftop bar with 360 degree views, good day or night. I didn't catch the cable car up to the mountain top but my friend did and she loved it! Cheaper for students in the afternoon I think. I hiked a mountain looking for a spot to boulder which I didn't have time to climb in the end but it was still lovely. Splashed myself in the mountains...

Overall, I would consider Innsbruck as a very safe place, except one part of the city, I would stay away during the night. The “Bogenmeile”, starting at the central train station along the arches, over which the trains travel.
Posted: March 30, 2026Small Town, not too busy but very beautiful. Not really scared of walking alone at night but of course as any woman we always have nit the best feeling when walking alone. All in all really save for women and the residents are very kind and ready to help.

As in every City, you could meet some weird creatures, especially at the Train Station, or you read about criminal Situations in the newspaper, but I mostly feel really sage, because there is also always sone police car around, also at night, that makes you feel more save
