I feel safe in Linz during the day especially. Night time can be a little intimidating in certain corners but it’s not nearly as bad as other cities. The trams in can get crowded and I would advise to beware of pickpockets. It’s never happened to me but I just feel like it could be possible.
Posted: May 19, 2026- For living, traveling, going out: yes, Linz is safe - You still use normal big-city awareness (especially at night or in crowded transport hubs) - Compared to most European cities: on the safer side

You can run into some shady figures at night but it's usually safe even if you're alone. There are some areas that make you feel a little uneasy like the park in front of the main station or when you exit it at the lower level past the bakeries, but personally
Posted: December 17, 2025I have done each of these things and nothing ever happened but let’s say the train station has some homeless people at night, I wouldn’t go chill in parks at night either, the volksgarten is known for the drug dealers that chill there… well and dark streets without light is also a no. Under daylight no reason to feel uncomfortable, even at night it’s quite okay, but trust your guts!!

Linz is quitee safe, but sometimes I feel less safe when some people do drugs in the night around the main train station, but the odds they come and talk to you is really small, I still would wish that wouldn’t happen because you never know what can people do under drugs 🥺 Other than that, its pretty safe

Linz is generally very safe, especially in the north and central. South of linz can sometimes be a bit spooky but generally I feel very safe in the city. I have never been harrased but there is bit of a bicycle theft problem.
