Is Salzburg Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Salzburg is generally safe for solo female travelers. The city has a low crime rate, well-lit and bustling central areas, and the locals are friendly and helpful. While the usual precautions should still be taken, such as avoiding quiet and poorly lit areas at night and keeping an eye on personal belongings, Salzburg is typically considered a secure place to explore alone.

i felt safe but people look at you curious or weirdly if you look alternative, walk barefoot or are vegan haha but i mean that kind of makes it more interesting people there are very bougie but there is a cool art museum you should go to in the Wiener-Philharmoniker-Gasse near University. Just keep your eyes open!

Solo travel

Salzburg is super safe to travel as a female solo traveller. I used public transport to go around (I took the 3 day tourist card) and they are really reliable. The food was nice (ate Wiener Schnitzel) but unfortunately I didn't really explore the culinary. I was also registered to the free-walking-tour. Was the best decision because not only someone can "show" you around but also you got interesting information!

Solo travel

Safe place for doing the solo trip and the view is beautiful in summer. I really enjoyed the sight view of the city and it’s a busy city but also kinda chill city. You can go to the mountains and the city just in less than one hour

Salzburg is a very beautiful city! I really enjoyed my trip there with two friends of mine. We've been to a museum which was really interesting. The city center is clean and there are many shopping possibilities.

Solo travel

I took a day trip to Salzburg by train. I went to the old town for a while, walked around a bit, and then took a bus to the Alps for a small walk. I took a cable car up the hill and from there I reached the highest point. The climb was quite hassle-free, and the view was beautiful. I recommend trying the apple strudel from the old town.

Salzburg is in comparison to other cities very safe - I have often times walked alone through the city at night without any negative incidence, also walking home from the main station. That being said, of course things happen like everywhere! If you keep your guard up and avoid the Lehener park at night, it should be pretty safe.

Meet locals in Salzburg

Sarah

Sarah

About Me

I am a 24 year old female, studying in Salzburg & working in Vienna (Austria). I love dance, music, photography, crocheting, hormonal health, horses and the English language. I very rarely travel for the sake of just exploring new places; most often I find myself taking on new cities because of a specific event that is taking place there, like concerts or exhibitions - and I love love meeting new friends on the way! I would much rather spend an afternoon exploring exciting topics of conversation over a nice cup of coffee, than visiting the sights; hopefully building lifelong friendships and developing an international network as I go! I value open communication, respecting boundaries and active listening. If this is given, I feel like I am able to connect with people of all walkes of life and all types of humour; and I'm definitely curious of meeting people that can challenge and expand my own worldviews.
