Great place to go hiking in the mountains.. close to Italy and Slovenia. Amazing food and lovely people. Stunning views on Dobratsch. Best Pizza at Panperfocaccia. The old town is very cute. It's a safe town.

I have been to Villach working as am Au Pair in August 2023. The city is located near the Italian border, but it’s not so easy to reach if you don’t live near Venice. From Venice there is a Flixbus that takes you directly to Villach and it’s quite cheap. Staying the nights in hotels can also be quite expensive, so I would recommend going to Austria as an hiking/sporty trip and camping in one of the many camping villages around the area. This is the best option even because the city here are quite small and quiet, so there isn’t much to visit and see, but I would highly recommend making...

Villach is a rather conservative city, but still safe for going out there alone at night. I still recommend telling someone local where you are, where you are going and calling them on your way home.

Overall very safe. I would be a bit worried at night, but chances of something dangerous are very little. No pickpocketing or something like that. Public transportation is safe as well. People driving very safely

Villach is a small city in Austria, it is very safe in general. I often walk alone at night and I am not scared. Of course like in every place, some worries or anxiety remains - especially when men are around.

Villach is a safe town in Austria. I can recommend living there. Walking alone at night has been very safe for me. There are street lights in most parts. I would be careful at cultural festivals. Sometimes harressment happens there.
