I went to Raleigh last year with my partner. It was super fun! Some of the attractions in NC are very fun. I enjoyed being there. I felt safe for the most part but after dark it was a little sketchy.

It was a relatively safe place, during the day it was fine I felt tots safe but at night (sadly like most places) as a woman it was a little sketchy so I wouldn’t go out alone anywhere. The restaurants and activities are very eclectic, it’s definitely an artistic community. Great food low prices comparatively.

I don’t feel exceptionally unsafe in Raleigh than other mid-size cities. Obviously as a girl/woman, it is always good to practice safe travels. Just like any city, don’t go to the sketchy parts and you will be straight.
Posted: September 11, 2025Raleigh is generally safe, there are just a few sketchy people hanging about the downtown area, but it’s what you would expect in a city. That being said it’s very pretty and i’ve never had an issue there.

I would say Raleigh is generally safe, with the exception of Downtown. Not that it is particularly UNsafe, but after about 9 or 10 at night I would be wary walking alone in Downtown Raleigh. Most of the City is pretty laid back and chill though.

Mostly safe with a few sketchy areas, just like in most cities. Bars, restaurants and clubs are generally safe. Downtown Raleigh can be a bit hit or miss post pandemic. When in doubt, take an Uber or Lyft.

Raleigh is a generally very safe city to explore or live in. There are of course certain areas of downtown Raleigh, and Durham as well that are a bit rough. Lots of college students and frat parties, so always take precaution when going out!
