Is Juneau safe for solo female travelers?

Juneau, as the capital city of Alaska, is generally considered to be safe for solo female travelers. You can freely explore the city's sights, museums and natural wonders with regular caution that should be practiced in any city. The local population is friendly and welcoming, but also develop a basic knowledge of wilderness safety if you're planning to explore the area's extensive trails and outdoor experiences. It's important, as with anywhere, to maintain awareness of your surroundings.

Solo travel

Did a three day trip, and it was amazing! I did a solo hike part way up Mt. McGinnis to see Mendenhall Glacier! It's very easy to navigate the bus system, and local are friendly. The hostel is also right downtown!

How safe is Juneau for women?

Juneau is relatively safe and comfortable city with lots of summer tourists mostly coming in on cruise ships the locals are nice as long as you are considerate of your surroundings. As a woman I have never felt unsafe walking alone even late at night.

Juneau is a very safe place bring bear spray on the trails for bears and creepy men! Other than that it is really aafe. There is a bit of a homeless problem but they keep to themselves mostly and don’t pose a threat
