How safe is Burlington?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Safe

Burlington, in general, boasts a relatively relaxed and safe environment. Even at night, the security level is considerably high with well-lit streets and an active nightlife, which means there are often people around. However, like any other city, it is always smart to keep your belongings close, stay vigilant and avoid deserted areas. Erring on the side of caution is advisable with or without the safety factor considered.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Burlington is fairly safe and reliable. The buses are regularly maintained and the areas they cover, including the bus stops, have decent lighting and security. Besides these, the drivers are professional and responsible. However, caution should always be practiced, particularly during late-night travels. Keep personal belongings secure and stay vigilant of your surroundings.
Street harassment:

Burlington is generally regarded as a safe and friendly place for solo female travelers. Street harassments are rare encounters due to the strong community spirit, low crime rates, and a robust police presence. Common sense precautions should still be taken, especially during night outs or when walking alone in less crowded areas, but overall, Burlington is a respectful city to all genders.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

In Burlington, petty crimes such as pickpocketing or purse-snatching are relatively low. However, precaution should always be taken. Do not leave belongings unattended and be mindful of your surroundings, especially in crowded places or at night.

Is Burlington worth visiting?

Solo travel

Burlington was such a wonderful town to visit. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Businesses had great service with seemingly happy employees. Church street was so cute and I had to restrain myself from spending all of my money there! I went to an EDM show at the Metronome and had an absolute blast! I discovered some caves that you can only access by crossing a frozen lake! So many adventure possibilities. I cannot wait to go back!

Is Burlington safe for women?

The general public is very friendly, accommodating and safe. We have had a rise in homeless population and drug use, lending to bike thefts. I would recommend staying in public areas at night, and walking in pairs if possible. Overall, its a very safe city. The drug use and mental illness in the homeless population is the only negative, but thats typical for any city.
