It's quiet safe, I didn't feel bad living here for 5 years. I live in university campus, But I also can say about the city, I walk with my friends through the city sometimes in the middle of the night and it's ok

Novosibirsk is not the safest place in Siberia but especially Akademgorod is more quiet and safe. You shouldn’t walking alone in the dark in the forest because there are many crazy people and exhibitionists but I almost always feel safe going alone in the downtown

Novosibirsk is a safe city in general. There are some worse districts, but people are very helpful and is somebody attacks you verbally or physically, they will save you if you ask. Not so many people speak good English, but almost everybody is willing to help using the translator app. It’s not absolutely clean everywhere, but it’s also not as dirty as in other cities.
