When planning a trip to Romania, it is important to exercise normal safety precautions, as recommended by the United States, Canadian, and Australian governments. Be aware of your surroundings, secure your belongings, and remain vigilant about personal safety and security measures.

The center was totally safe. I arrived there by train and started to walk to the center.
You can climb to the castle in the hill by walking then see the area. 
Then from the city center you can visit the the cave outside of the city far away 45 minute by walking. I don't recommend to walk since it is a forest and there are no people there. 
I only spent 30 lei there food included.
I didn't stay there at night
