Casablanca was the only city in Morocco where I felt uncomfortable and, at times, unsafe. When I was alone on the street for a few moments without my partner, a man showed up and followed me, and only disappeared once my partner came back. In Cafes, I was ignored by the staff, even though I was the one speaking French, thus normally doing the ordering. The mosque is indeed very beautiful, but overall, I wasnt impressed with my time in Casablanca.
Posted: February 11, 2024Experienced: October, 2023I went to Casablanca as a solo woman and had several unpleasant experiences. Men were staring at me and following me on the streets, as well as in my hotel. Taxi drivers with incredibly old and dangerous cars were constantly trying to scam me. I feel it could have been a nicer experience if I had gone there with a male colleague or in a group. I've traveled a lot, but I've never had such negative experiences as in Casablanca. In the end, I was simply happy to return home. I certainly do not...

I've been to three different cities in Morocco as a tourist: Marrakech, Dakla, Casablanca. The safest city for me now is Casablanca. There are a lot of police here, it's a more European neighbourhood. It's better to choose the Anfa neighbourhood for living and relaxing

It's safe compared to other cities since it's the economic capital, where a lot of companies are located. However, chance of getting robbed is high so pay attention to your purses and do not trust taxis and store owners (especially men). They overcharge tourists. Ask a woman before buying any product or service. People are generally nice and will go oit of their way to help. Casablanca is not a touristy city, except the mosque and the old Medina there's nothing much.

Overall, it is a safe place, I have never had a bad experience such as getting robbed or forced by someone to do something or go somewhere I didn’t want to be. just make sure to avoid sus neighborhoods!
