Barrie has certain areas with unhoused people/beggars, no different than any other city. Otherwise, it's pretty safe. I'm located in the South end of Barrie, in a very family-oriented neighborhood, which is very safe.

One of the safest city. I work during night and never felt followed or unsafe. Even my kids play outside house without any fear. Will recommend staying in barrie with family if safety is your 1st priority
