Is Santa Cruz de Tenerife safe for female travelers?

Solo travel

First solo backpacking trip, april 2024 : πŸ’”I took a week's solo holiday after a car accident that had left me feeling shaken. ✈️I flew alone from Barcelona and had to sleep there for the first time... I settled down on the ground near the sockets with my rucksack... next to other women, spontaneously. β˜€οΈI booked a hostel in Santa Cruz. I recommend staying in the north-east or north-west of the island, which is wilder and less Ibiza nightlife-oriented than the south-west, where I didn't feel safe because drunk foreigners behave so badly!!! Worse than if they were at home...😑😀 Santa Cruz and the UNESCO Anaga National Park with natural pools at the end of the hike on the seafront... Wow...πŸ’―πŸŒŸπŸŠβ€β™€οΈ Then I took the city bus thanks to Google Maps and went diving in Los Gigantales in the west. It was great because there were French people like me and sunshine. I rented a small private Airbnb with a solarium, and in the evening I did a little shopping and had drinks on the terrace.... πŸŒ… Several restaurants alone, sometimes looks or questions "are you waiting for someone?" NO πŸ˜„πŸ™‚. By doing this, you give off something that others sense and smile at you😏🀭... "free and carefree". πŸ•ΊπŸ”ŠπŸŽ‰I even went to a nightclub on my own despite the stress of Ibiza nightlife. I dressed modestly in trousers and a jumper outside and a slightly festival-style vest top inside. Since everyone else was dressed like sexy influencers, no one noticed me.πŸ˜… Once inside the club, I sometimes felt awkward dancing next to other groups because I felt like people could tell I was alone... Which wasn't really the case. πŸ˜…I had befriended a group who understood this and suggested I let them know if I wasn't feeling well πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›. I had a nightclub crush🀣 with whom I went back to sleep, which saved me from walking alone on the seafront with all the drunk and insistent guys.... Well, that's not really a tip🀣🀣🀣, but feel free! It was my first solo trip and I loved it, despite the difficult time I was going through psychologically. πŸ™ The Canary Islands are a good place to start.πŸ¬πŸŒ…πŸŒ΅ The sunlight, the landscapes, the diving, the looks from other hikers and locals... Everything blends together and you feel things very strongly.
