Agra, a city in northern India's Uttar Pradesh state, is home to the iconic and mesmerizing Taj Mahal, one of the most famous symbols of India's rich history. Known as the gateway to the "four pearls" of Uttar Pradesh - Agra, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Allahabad, Agra annually draws hordes of tourists from around the globe. Apart from the Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its white marble-clad mausoleum built by Emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife, Agra is also home to other historical landmarks such as the Agra Fort and the nearby Fatehpur Sikri, both radiant with Mughal architectural grandeur. Visitors can also indulge in authentic Indian cuisine while browsing through local markets offering a plethora of handicrafts, especially the intricate inlay work called 'Pietra Dura'.
