Amritsar, a captivating city in the northwestern Indian state of Punjab, is renowned worldwide for fertile land, rich history, colorful culture, and its striking spiritual significant. Its most iconic and sacred shrines, the Golden Temple, beautifully encapsulates the city's sacred ambiance and spiritual allure, drawing countless devotees and tourists each year. Situated 450 kilometers north of Delhi, Amritsar is celebrated for its warm and hospitable locals, a wide variety of sumptuous Punjabi cuisine, and its poignant and powerful historical sites, like Jallianwala Bagh, a public garden that commemorates the tragic massacre of peaceful celebrators on the Punjabi New Year in April 1919. The Wagah border ceremony between India and Pakistan, full of national fervor, is another must-see event. Each corner of this city is steeped in age-old tales and timeless traditions, making it a captivating destination for cultural, historical, and spiritual exploration.

I stayed at radisson blu which was right in the middle of the city. City is quite walkable with cultural experiences and amazing food and best lassi. 
I felt pretty safe walking around the city. People were respectful and helpful to tourists

Being a South Indian I never got a chance to visit north India until this Amritsar trip, so after a family trip I took a diversion and caught bus from Jaipur to Amritsar. I was staying in Madpackers hostel where I made made lot of friends - from then I didn’t have to turn back it ended up like a group trip with lot of friends.
