About me

Hi! My name’s Kate and I’m a young working professional living in Vancouver with my boyfriend and cat. I love travelling, hiking, reading, exploring, arts and culture, and eating good food. I’ve done couch surfing and home exchanges in the past. I’ve also lived abroad for a few years during my studies and while I was au pairing. If you’re travelling through Vancouver and need a place to stay, our couch is open for 1-2 nights. We also have a cat and are open to people coming to cat sit while we’re away. We live in the trendy Commercial Drive neighborhood of Vancouver, close to cafes, restaurants, and public transit. Also open to meeting up with locals and travellers :) I love meeting new people! A little more about me: On a typical day I like biking around, laying outside in the sun, hanging my friends, going out to eat/drink, relaxing with a good book or binge watching some reality tv.

About me

Hey! I’m a 5’2” Brazilian-Canadian-Filipino from Vancouver, working in consulting. Just got out of a seven-year relationship, so I’m all about meeting new people and building my girl gang while traveling the world—one city at a time. I love trying new restaurants, sipping cocktails, and indulging in pasta and tacos. Always up for an adventure, spontaneous plans, and making the most of every moment. If you’re down for good vibes, great food, and new friendships, let’s grab a cocktail and make some memories! 💖

Is Vancouver worth visiting?

If you're seeking beautiful landscapes, Vancouver can be a good choice if you're ready to go further than Vancouver city. I would not recommend just staying in the city, I didn't really feel safe there because of all the drug consumption around the city. Also, i didn't find anything worth visiting.

Group travel

I felt very safe in Vancouver! I went with my best friend in July 2024. We stayed in HI Hostels in downtown Vancouver in an all female dorm room. The hostel felt very safe and to get in you needed a keycard for both the front door and your room. The front desk always had at least two people there which also helped me feel safer. The hostel hosted a bar crawl one of the nights for anyone who paid $65. We were given wrist brands that said what event it was and not the hostel name which I thought was a smart move on the hostel’s part! We went to about three bars and three clubs and we all had a blast. Everyone in the group hung out, it was about 25-30 people. Everyone was kind, respectful and fun! It was a bit expensive as my friend and I had to Uber for anywhere more than twenty minutes from the hospital and the dinner places weren’t cheap either. Both services were good and the food was amazing but definitely budget a good amount. I spent probably $150 USD while there, I shopped a good bit and the hostel was $280 USD for two women in a 4 women dorm room.
