About me

Hi, I’m Kaylie and I live in Brisbane, Australia with my 17 year old daughter Hannah. I’m a qualified geologist and I work in the mining industry, mainly working from home but also routinely travelling around Australia. I love hiking and will embark on a 12 month trekking holiday in March 2024. I am a solo traveller and know how enriching and rewarding this type of travelling can be. I would love to meet and host any solo women who are looking to explore Brisbane.

Family travel

There are plenty of nice cafes and places to eat! I also love walking by the river at Kangaroo Point and New Farm or attending a salsa class in West End. However, safety at night can be a concern, I wouldn’t walk alone at night.

Solo travel

I moved here 3 years ago and do really love it. Smaller city but expanding. So much to do with sunny coast and Gold Coast and Byron bay near. Really safe but Ofcoarse depends where in Brisbane you are just like all cities

About Me

Hi everyone! I have been living here in Tokyo for going on 30 years, so if anyone needs advice or just wants to hang out, hit me up. I’m especially interested in meeting women around my age, who love solo travel, adventure, and just wanna have fun. :) I enjoy travel when I can, have been to 10 or so countries, and want to see more of the world. If there is anything else you would like to know, just ask!

Is Brisbane worth visiting?

Overall rating

3.9 /5

Solo travel

Art galleries are very cool. Great free walking tour from the Brisbane greeters. Kayak through Brisbane guided tour- fun experience but would recommend just paying to hire the kayak as it wasn’t much of a tour. I stayed in fortitude valley, and the other travellers where mostly in groups and aged 18- 24

Group travel

Public transport is quite bad and ends early on weekends. Always google and check! Do look around the University of Queensland. The great court is really pretty. The fake beach at southbank is not worth visiting. Drive up a little to Sunshine Coast and u can see more beautiful beaches. Noosa's Hell's Gate hike was the prettiest hike I've ever been to. Saw so many wild dolphins up close and humpback whales during the whale season. The beaches are beautiful too. Drive down a little to Lamington National Park. Mount Tamborine is beautiful. The drive was really pretty too. Go even further down and u can get to Byron Bay. The lighthouse gives u really good view of the sea and you can see humpback whales there too if you are lucky!
