Is Taiwan safe for solo female travelers?

Taiwan is generally considered very safe for solo female travelers. The crime rate is pretty low, particularly against tourists. Public transportation is reliable and convenient, including late at night, and it's not uncommon for women to also be out alone. The locals are typically helpful and respectful, so you can expect to feel comfortable while traveling around. However, like any global cities, it is always important to take basic precautions, such as not wandering into less populated areas late at night.

Taitung, Solo travel

This is my second time visiting Taitung. Taitung is very friendly for solo travelers, whether it's the local residents or the routes (I'm terrible with directions and still had no problems 😆). It's a place to get away from the noisy city, say goodbye to a busy mind, and find a place where your heart can settle. The peaceful east coast, riding alone on Route 11, with mountains on the left and the sea on the right, gives a feeling of being protected, which moved me and made me feel very at ease....

Taiwan, Couple travel

Very worth going! This is the most respectful country I have ever been to. We did a whole round to the island in roughly two weeks but would recommend even more time to do so. Each area has its own cultural influences. Hiking is a must. Also checkout islands if you have the opportunity. On a side note I am celiac, it wasn't easy but I was able to purchase gluten-free soja sauce and talk my way through the local markets and restaurants. Speaking Chinese will help a lot.

Taiwan, Solo travel

I’d like to preface that I’m a fluent Chinese speaker and I was born and raised in Hong Kong which is very close to Taiwan so we have similar cultures and a lot of mutual influence, so I could be biased. That being said, I think Taiwan should definitely be your next country to visit. To start with safety, I’d say it’s one of the safest countries in the world. I didn’t encounter any harassment or spot any suspicious guy. I heard from many female travellers also share the same enjoyable...

Taiwan

People are very friendly here, they are willing to help travelers. Taiwan is incredibly safe; you can often see people leaving their phones or wallets on tables to reserve seats in cafes without worrying about them being stolen. There is no need to worry about being mugged or pickpocketed. The density of surveillance cameras and the high level of social trust make it a very secure place. Even as a solo traveler, I feel completely at ease walking around at any time of the day or night.

Kaohsiung

The city is really quiet and nice and people are so sweet. I’m staying during three months. I’m studying at the Chinese university and it’s really nice and people are really welcoming. I really recommend this destination.
