Very very safe ♡ There is no need to worry even when you go out in the middle of the night, wearing shorts, holding a wallet and a phone in your hands. Taipei is quite a lively place, there will still be people hanging out with friends at night markets, restaurants and KTVs late at night, so you won’t feel that much alone. For emergencies, just go to a convenience store and ask for help, they’re everywhere, provide tons of services and they open 24/7. From my personal experience, thefts and crimes are not very common. For instance, in cafes, I can simply leave all of my stuff on a seat before buying my coffee at the counter, and when I come back, they will still be there untouched. Plus, Taiwanese people are usually extra friendly to foreigners, so I believe you’ll have a great time. :)
Posted: January 15, 2025It’s very very safe, we often go clubbing and walk home at 3am drunk, yet I’d still arrive home just fine. I’d also forget to lock my doors when I go to work sometimes, and I’d come home and everything is exactly the same as when I left in the morning
Posted: December 25, 2024Because of work, I often walk home alone after 12a.m. I always walk on the road listening to music and feel safe. Sometimes I leave my wallet where I have just been. When I go back to there, my walllet is still in place. So I think Taiwan is a nice place to travel.

Generally there is almost no problem with safety while being in public space in Taiwan. No need to worry if you would encounter pickpockets also. Leaving your valuable stuffs out of your sight shortly is normally not a problem.
Posted: August 26, 2024I can even ride the public bike on the 2am street which is actually even more safe than daytime. Because the danger in Taipei city is not sexual harassment, but the traffic. Also I would proud to say, if you accidentally drop your wallet on the street or forget your camera on the metro, like 80% you can get it back in the police office So if you visit my city,no need to worry about thief or pervert. Taiwaneses are generally polite and friendly!
Posted: August 20, 2024It's basically ok in most areas. Stay away from dark alleys or lanes with no people around. Taking transit to visit around is pretty easy. At night, it's better to walk in the streets with lights on.

Taiwan is one of the safest countries in the world. As a female, you don’t feel worried when you’re walking on the street alone at night. Highly recommend the place for female solo travelers! You’ll fall in love with the city.
Posted: July 31, 2024I believe Taipei is one of the safest cities in Asia. There’s no problem at all to go out alone at night, and you can simply leave all your belongings on the table to collect your food at McDonald’s. Nobody’s gonna touch/steal your stuffs :)

Taipei is the capital of Taiwan, with a low crime rate, convenient transportation, many accommodation options, and safety. I always feel really safe walking around alone, or being on the transportations, even late at night!

Taiwan
I felt really safe in Taipei, the weather was nice, and the food was delicious. I stayed at WoW Hostel in Ximending, it was cheap and the beds were good, with curtains and a lockers. It was sometimes a bit noisy but it is normal is this neither, I didn't mind. Staff was friendly too. Taipei is really great for museums and culture ! I loved it
