Is Taipei safe for solo female travelers?

Taipei is generally considered to be one of the safest cities for solo female travelers. There is high regard for law, order and personal safety in Taiwan, especially in its capital Taipei. Street crimes like mugging and theft are relatively rare and strict laws against such offenses are enforceable and adhered to. Locals are typically friendly and helpful, including in providing directions, and there are tourist centers and police readily available. As with any location, it’s recommended nonetheless to stay alert and use common sense.

Family travel

Taipei was so much fun, I was very young when I went there however the night markets were so much fun and food was so delicious. I travelled with family so we all stuck together, some things were a bit sketchy but as long as you stick to the brightly lit areas you’re fine.

I travelled to Taiwan, Taipeh with my friends and had the best time ever! The food was the best I had in a long time and for the price it was too good to be true. I felt so safe in Taipeh and never had any issues with feeling uncomfortable. But also around Taipeh I was so impressed by the nature. I highly recommend going there!!

Solo travel

I felt really safe in Taipei, the weather was nice, and the food was delicious. I stayed at WoW Hostel in Ximending, it was cheap and the beds were good, with curtains and a lockers. It was sometimes a bit noisy but it is normal is this neither, I didn't mind. Staff was friendly too. Taipei is really great for museums and culture ! I loved it

Solo travel

I recommend staying in Taipei for a couple days! My biggest recommendation is tot ur Taiwanese breakfast! Fan Tuan is a breakfast food in Taiwan and it’s basically a rice ball with stuff in it. It’s super cheap at around 40 twd :)

I spent 4 days solo travelling in Taipei and felt very safe walking around alone. Public transport is very easy to navigate and the people here are friendly and helpful. I was looking to buy tea (a specific brand for a friend) they suggested some stores where I could go and even showed me different teas to even try. Totally loved the experience here and I would definitely return to explore more.

Many shops stay open until midnight, so the streets are still well-lit and you can find people if you need help. People are hospitality and willing to assist, even if you don’t speak the same language. Basically, you don’t have to worry much about personal safety or belongings. ✨

It’s overall a REALLY SAFE place to stay, but the crime rate has risen since the past few months so it’s lowkey scaring me as well. I would say tho, compared to other countries it’s def rather safe in Taipei still.

Except for a few very small areas in the city, this is one of the safest places I've been to in the world. Walking around after dark, I feel much safer than in any North American city, whether I'm in the street or in public transport.
