Taipei is generally very safe and it’s not a problem to walk around most neighborhoods at night at all. However, places like bars and clubs can be a bit messy and there have been cases of people getting roofied. I guess in general I’d recommend people to relax and enjoy Taipei however you like. Crime rates are relatively low as well. But still people, especially and unfortunately women, need to be wary when they’re in a place involving alcohol.

Taipei's super safe!! I've walked around until dawn a few times alone in the streets, felt completely fine. Men here aren't too threatening, some are a bit annoying but I've normally never worried they would physically attack me. Of course take note of the area you're in, but Da'an (Da'An Forest Park is super nice) and Xinyi are pretty safe.

Taipei is quite a safe city for travelers. Pickpocket is rare. Even when you are walking alone at midnight, you don't have to worry about to be robbered. People only need to beware of traffic situation when crossing the streets, cause vehicles pass fast.
Posted: February 2, 2025It's one of the safest cities in the world, I didn't experience catcalling more than 2-3 times in 5 months. Overall, it's really safe for women. Men are more respectful than many other places. However if you're alone or going to a club etc. you should always remember the rules to protect yourself.

The safest place I know! I often go for runs in the middle of the night (2am) and I've never had any issues. I have lived in both Taipei and New Taipei, and both cities I've been super safe. If you need help you can always go to a convenience store, they are open 24h.
Posted: January 28, 2025It’s very very safe, we often go clubbing and walk home at 3am drunk, yet I’d still arrive home just fine. I’d also forget to lock my doors when I go to work sometimes, and I’d come home and everything is exactly the same as when I left in the morning
Posted: December 25, 2024Because of work, I often walk home alone after 12a.m. I always walk on the road listening to music and feel safe. Sometimes I leave my wallet where I have just been. When I go back to there, my walllet is still in place. So I think Taiwan is a nice place to travel.
Posted: September 21, 2024Taipei is a very convenient place, I highly recommend the guest go and visit it. People are friendly. There are many places to visit near Taipei city. You can go the mountain or the beach within 1 hr driving. Definitely you will love this city.

Generally there is almost no problem with safety while being in public space in Taiwan. No need to worry if you would encounter pickpockets also. Leaving your valuable stuffs out of your sight shortly is normally not a problem.
Posted: August 26, 2024I can even ride the public bike on the 2am street which is actually even more safe than daytime. Because the danger in Taipei city is not sexual harassment, but the traffic. Also I would proud to say, if you accidentally drop your wallet on the street or forget your camera on the metro, like 80% you can get it back in the police office So if you visit my city,no need to worry about thief or pervert. Taiwaneses are generally polite and friendly!

I travelled to Taiwan, Taipeh with my friends and had the best time ever! The food was the best I had in a long time and for the price it was too good to be true. I felt so safe in Taipeh and never had any issues with feeling uncomfortable. But also around Taipeh I was so impressed by the nature. I highly recommend going there!!

I felt really safe in Taipei, the weather was nice, and the food was delicious. I stayed at WoW Hostel in Ximending, it was cheap and the beds were good, with curtains and a lockers. It was sometimes a bit noisy but it is normal is this neither, I didn't mind. Staff was friendly too. Taipei is really great for museums and culture ! I loved it

Hi, I’m Jody from Taiwan🇹🇼! I often travel around the world. I love exploring natural landscapes, experiencing local cultures, and most importantly, making friends from all over the world!🫧 I recently started learning Japanese because I’ve met so many lovely Japanese people who made me fall in love with Japan, and I want to be able to communicate with them in Japanese. I also really enjoy photography, and in Taiwan, I sometimes take on travel photography gigs. If you like taking photos too, we can go shoot together! This June, I’ll be moving to the UK to start my studies there!

Hey! I find joy in creativity, whether it’s through music, art, or exploring new ideas. I love attending live performances, visiting art galleries, and discovering new sounds. Nature inspires me, and I find peace in connecting with it. I’m curious about different cultures and enjoy learning from new traditions, cuisines, and lifestyles. As an introvert (INFP), I find happiness in both brief encounters and deeper connections that bring joy through shared moments. In my free time, I also explore practices like meditation, Reiki, and other healing tools. If you’re into deep conversations or just want to share a fun moment, feel free to reach out—I’d love to connect!
