It's pretty safe. The transportation system isn't perfect, but I never worry about being robbed or mugged. They sometimes drive a bit recklessly, but that's the scariest thing that could happen. One could feel a bit uneasy after dark depending on the area of the city.
Posted: April 23, 2025the city is actually quite safe, you can walk alone at night, but in general it is hard to do this in any city as a woman. There is no theft, there are cases of pickpockets in transport. It's better to have some form of protection with you.

Moscow is pretty safe for solo female travelers! As a 24 y/o local girl, I walk alone at night in central areas without issues. Just avoid empty streets, use trusted taxis (Yandex/Uber), and ignore sketchy strangers. Basic precautions go a long way - I feel safer here than in many European capitals. 😊
Posted: April 19, 2025It's a pretty safe city, nothing happened to me ever, including night too but i would recommend still to follow some basic safety rules in order not to get problems.

I lived there for 1.5 years and in general the overall situation there is quite safe, I have never had anything stolen on the street, I have never been attacked or treated rudely, even the homeless are quite decent) public transport is also safe, no one has ever bothered me, but I don't think it's worth walking alone at night (I think this applies to any country)
Posted: April 17, 2025Actually, it’s pretty safe here. It’s very comfortable to use public transport especially during the day. Obviously, there are some strange areas where you should now go alone during the night, such as Chertanovo or Himki but they are not so popular among tourists.

I don't think it's dangerous here actually, but it's not completely safe. Sometimes I can see drunk men on the streets, most of the time they are friendly, but still it's uncomfortable. I'm always anxious about my safety, especially in the dark, but it's mostly my fears, not the real situation in the city. Overall, the level of safety is 7/10.

I would say that Moscow is quite a safe city. Street robbing is rare as well as public harassment. You can see drunk and inadequate people in the streets, but most of the time they mind their own business. Metro has it's own safety system and police officers. There are in fact people with PTSD from previous armed conflicts and they are dangerous. Plus at bars and clubs men sometimes touch women, but you can report them to bar workers and club bouncers
Posted: April 13, 2025moscow is full of cameras and police post and patrols everywhere. It works even at night. People in russia in most cases are very good and will help in emergency even if you are a stranger to them. dont be afraid to ask

it depends on the area, some parts of the city are very safe, other areas are not because of a lot of poor people living there, but i’d say the main popular tourist areas are safe to visit and enjoy it

I felt very save in Kaliningrad. People were friendly and tried to help. Most of them don't speak english. I used public transport in town and even visited the seaside by train. The infrastructure is quite good. The service in the restaurants was also very good and polite. The food delicious. I would recommend to visit the market (rynok) for fresh and homemade products like fruits, vegetables, honey or wool products, the organ concerts on Kant island in the cathedral, the ocean museum and the orthodox cathedral on the main square. There are also many tourist attractions and guided tours to learn about the interesting history of the town. Kaliningrad is also good for shopping there many big malls with a variety of shops. I would recommend to visit this beautiful town.

Russia
this is a tourist place so it is safe, I did not have any problems. I recommend: fishing on a yacht, horse riding, a walk on a pirate ship (if you are with children, I was alone and it was a bit boring, but beautiful) go up to the mountains. many delicious restaurants on the embankment. I stayed in a hostel, yes it was easy and safe. I spent about $ 200 for 3-4 days

My name is Anna, and I was born and raised in Moscow. I live here with my husband. Travelling is the most exciting part of my life:) I work in a Medical Device industry, in international company and so I travel regularly, that’s one of the reasons I like my job 😁 I try to spend my time-off travelling somewhere, and hope to visit Sweden, Italy and maybe even more in 2025! If you ever visit Moscow, I can help you with navigating around the city, public transportation in Moscow is very convenient! Also, I can try to help you to arrange sim-card, bank-card if you’d like ☺️ And of course I hope to meet you in your home town once I visit it!
