Overall, moscow feels very safe. Of course, as a woman, you will always worry about men being.. well, men. But I’d say for one creep there’s 10 nice guys, who will help and protect you. As for people here in general, I’d also say that Russians are very attentive and supportive, if you ever need help or assistance in the streets or elsewhere.

It is pretty much safe, especially in popular streets. Only if you meet some strange person it may be tough. Crime level is low, public transportation is absolutely safe. Don’t worry walking in the streets.
Posted: June 2, 2025There are a lot of cameras here, and it’s generally crowded even after dark. I have a heightened level of anxiety, but objectively, thefts targeting ordinary passersby are rare, and I don’t have a habit of hiding anything valuable.

Russia is a police state. Moscow is the capital city with a lot of police in the center (so no physical abuse or pickpockets). Public transport is the cleanest and prettiest. You might get catcalled or harassed in heterosexual nightclubs but overall people in Moscow are adequate
Posted: May 29, 2025Moscow is generally safe for solo female travelers and just for living. This city is vibrant, fast-paced. You can find here grand architecture, efficient transport and a surprisingly low violent crime rate. The city centre feels safe day and night: police presence and CCTV coverage. Central areas are well-lit, bustling and tourist-friendly and safe. The metro is clean, safe and heavily monitored, though crowded at peak times. Parks like Gorky Park are family-friendly even after dark, but quieter outskirts can feel sketchy. Scams are rare, but drunk nightlife crowds (especially on weekends) can be rowdy. Locals keep to themselves - no harassment beyond occasional stares or catcalling. Moscow is as safe as other big cities - just stay alert, avoid shady areas at night alone, and trust your instincts. This city isn’t “dangerous”, but its sheer size and occasional Soviet-era bureaucracy (e.g., police document checks) demand situational awareness.

Moscow is one of the safest places I have been to. Watch your belongings, don’t leave it unattended (its not UAE in the end) . But nearly 0 rate of pickpocketing. Behave respectfully in public places and you will have no problem. Even drunk people are harmless here.
Posted: May 28, 2025It was a really nice trip. You can travel on a budget. There’s lots to see and do. I’d definitely try local cuisine, there’s a wide choice of dineries. Taxi is affordable, safe. Avoid travelling in the rush hour, the streets can be blocked.
