tromsø is a very safe city for everyone. you can walk alone as a woman without having to fear an attack, also the inhabitants are really friendly and welcoming. there are also a lot of tourists and erasmus students

I feel safe walking home alone at night and the snow on the pathways is literally the only thing that can make you insecure because it’s slippery sometimes. The bus is the only public transport here but it runs quite regularly, also at night.

I have never felt unsafe walking around in Tromsø — no matter the time of the day or the area. It cannot be compared to other bigger cities I have visited outside Norway. People are extremely considerate and I haven’t experienced anything threatening from others. The biggest safety issue is the weather and geo hazards if you’re seeking to go hiking or skiing.
Posted: January 1, 2025Very safe, not dangerous at all, you don't have to worry, just enjoy the city, it's safe. You can be anywhere, at any time. All alone - no one will touch you unless you want that. Of course some drunk people in the club might be a bit much, but just tell them you don't like it and they will go away.
Posted: October 12, 2024Generally very safe. Low crime and violence rates. Walking alone at night is not a problem anywhere here, but it's hard to feel completely safe, just like anywhere else. Public transport is in general very safe, during nights on the weekends it can be loud and people can be quite intoxicated.

I stayed 4 days in Tromso with my mom. Everything was supper expensive , but nice and clean. The scenery is beaitiful. We went to see the seals at the oceanarium and we did a husky ride and raindeer feeding. All very nice experiences.
Posted: September 6, 2024Tromso is very safe! However tours can be overbooked very quickly so please plan your trip and book in advanced! Food and accoms are expensive, highly recommend to cook. Do wear more layers too, especially if you are chasing the northern lights :) All the best and have fun there!

I love to cook and eat good food. Watch movies and dance. And to laugh. I used to use Couchsurfing for quite a while and travelled alone by bike through Denmark. Originally from Germany:)
