It’s one of the safest big cities i would say, but like all big cities there’s crime. Unlike crimes like murder or being assaulted, getting your bike stolen is one of the most common crimes here. Avoid some places at night though
Posted: July 2, 2025Oslo is safe<3 You can always reach out to the people around you, and the police is always there to help. Try not to be around the central station at night, cause that’s often where all the addicts and homeless people are- however if you are friendly to them and respect them- they will do the same to you!

it's quite safe in my area(frogner, oslo). But at night in the city centre on the weekend, there are people doing hard drugs on the streets and i don't feel safe walking amongst them. But keep to the nice areas if you want to walk alone at night.
Posted: June 17, 2025Oslo is pretty safe compared to other capital cities. The population is the biggest in Norway, but it’s not crowded or super busy at all times. You may also leave your stuff unwatched in some cafes without it being stolen.
Posted: June 8, 2025My personal experience is that Oslo is a safe city. Oslo feels safe during daytime. At night there might be streets that are totally “empty” and it is best to walk where there are people and avoid walking alone.
Posted: June 7, 2025Oslo is a highly safe place where I feel safe with walking home at night. Of course there are some parts of the city where there is a more concentrated area of ‘weird’ environment, but it has never been dangerous for me.

I felt very safe. The city was amazing. It's simultaneously very peaceful and vivid. I enjoyed walking around very much, there are so many attractions- museums, parks, botanical gardens. The fjord looks fantastic.
Posted: June 26, 2025Experienced: May, 2025I actually got stuck there for two days as I was trying to fly home. But I didn’t mind because I got to explore Oslo. I ended up sleeping at the airport and exploring the city during the day. The bus system was easy, the town was clean, and it was easy to communicate in English. I didn’t go out at night, so I’m not sure how safe the nightlife is.
