Most neighborhoods are very safe also after dark. Would stay away from certain areas of downtown late at night by yourself as a woman if there are not a lot of people around. Grønland has a lot of petty crime, but generally safe during the daytime.
Posted: October 31, 2024I would say Oslo is pretty safe. Although we have experienced more crime lately, it’s mostly gang related and not a concern for others. But as a woman, you always want to take precautions no matter where you are.
Posted: October 27, 2024Safe and easygoing. A lot can be done in the city like visiting museums, walks in the neighbourhood. In summer in the middle of the city you can experience sauna by the ocean. Kayaking in the river then the ocean. Everything is close but plan ahead.

Oslo is quite safe. I have walked home alone at night many times. But, of course, use normal caution when walking alone at night through parks or by Aker river. Oslo has a lot of forest and it's very accomodated to visit. You can easily just pop up a tent and make a fire at the designated fire places. Robberies happen, but it's not very common. I think if you forget your wallet anywhere, it will probably just be there when you go back for it or someone will find it and try to contact you to pick it up.
Posted: September 3, 2024Safe to travel for women. There are many tourists in the city centre. The crime rate is low and prosperity is high. Little robbing . As long as you stay in the city centre and dont walk alone in dark streets you will be safe.
Posted: August 19, 2024It's safe in that sense that there are few people who harasses. That means that people leave you alone. It's ok to walk around. It's ok to walk around and I guess it might be easy to talk to people if you're open-minded.

I always take the night bus home after a night out, and then walk home by myself with music in my ears and honestly it’s so safe. Never had any issues, so think that can overall tell you Oslo is one of the safest capitals in the world. I did however lose my phone once cos someone pick-pocketed me, and that’s about the only crime.

It’s so safe that I can take the night bus home and walk from the bus stop to my house without being scared. I can wear my fancy clothes and expensive jewelry out in town without fear. Children take public transportation alone.
Posted: August 10, 2024Norway is a very safe country, and for a capital Oslo is very safe too. In general I am not afraid at all when walking around in the city by myself during daytime. After dark I am more careful and there are places where I would avoid walking alone late in the evening or at night. Better keep to places where there are other people or go together with someone, you never know. But in general Oslo is a safe city.
Posted: August 8, 2024Overall safe city, but I think there’s areas more prone to crimes. Crimes is more relational (in my knowledge) - ex. gangs or domestic violence/parties. Bystanders dont really ‘help’/interfere usually

Super safe city, even at night. It’s quite expensive as all Scandinavia, but infrastructure and services pay off. Deichmann library and the Opera house were stunning. Cinnamon buns are a must try! Public transport is always clean and on time.
Posted: November 24, 2024sharing from the local: Nature stuff: - Maybe take the ferry to one of the islands, maybe Hovedøya. You take the boat with a normal bus ticket. - If you have the time, go to bogstad gård. I would say it’s the prettiest lake in Oslo, you can swim there, walk around and have a kanelsnurr - You should really stop by botanisk hage! It’s close to city center and really pretty! - The kings castle have a really pretty park! Culture stuff: - I would really recommend the national gallery! It’s new and kinda different I would say to other museums! I go there maybe twice a week myself. It’s so peaceful and astonishing at the same time. - You can have a tour in the kings castle, it’s interesting I think! Foods and drinks!: For coffee the cafe “Time Wendelboe” is world class! But there’s a lot of coffee places that are good, Norwegians love their coffee.. I really like the Italian food at Baltazar ristorante! The best Chinese food is probably Szechuan Chengdu by Grunerløkka. There’s a bunch of god sushi places just don’t eat at Sabrura❌ it sucks. I would also stay away from Egon! For Norwegian food i like Fiskeriet on Youngstorget, they got fish mostly! Here’s a link to all the best Norwegian restaurants but it’s written in Norwegian:/ https://www.visitoslo.com/no/artikler/norske-restauranter/ Shopping: - For vintage shopping, grunerløkka have some good stores like good vibes vintage, Robot, Frøken Dianas salonger and velouria vintage. - For classic shopping i would recommend Svean on Frogner, they get a lot of Scandinavian clothing. - Dapper on Grunerløkka, they mostly have menswear but a lot of it I would say is unisex. - Ganni postmodern and Acne archive also on grunerløkka! Mostly women’s fashion. It’s really cool! - - Valkyrien is a shopping mall on majorstua with stores like Other stories and Moniker, both cool stores one with mostly women’s clothing and the other a sports store. + a bunch of other stores. - Steen og strøm in Karl Johan is cool, more brands that are well known, four floors of different things. - Paleet is a shopping mall in Karl Johan as well closer to the kings castle. They have a really good clothing store on the second floor!
