Group travel

Tromso is very safe! However tours can be overbooked very quickly so please plan your trip and book in advanced! Food and accoms are expensive, highly recommend to cook. Do wear more layers too, especially if you are chasing the northern lights :) All the best and have fun there!

Solo travel

Best place in Scandinavia to visit especially in the winter. Fjords, mountains, city, chasing Aurora Borealis or the Northern Lights are just some of the tourist attractions one should not miss. And the best of all — locals are friendly and generous people.

Solo travel

Tromsø is one of the best places to observe the Northern Lights. I was there in February and it was really cold, so remember to pack warm things. I spent my time chasing the Northern Lights, feeding reindeer, and taking part in an Arctic tour. You can easily get around the city by buses, English is commonly spoken, and there are many day trips to choose from.

Solo travel

I spent a week in Tromso and I would go back there in a heartbeat. I definitely recommend the Northern Lights and whale watching, as well as the fjords (both boat and coach tours are equally worthwhile). I also participated in a winter snowmobile rally in the Skibotn valley and night-time dog sledding.

I feel safe walking home alone at night and the snow on the pathways is literally the only thing that can make you insecure because it’s slippery sometimes. The bus is the only public transport here but it runs quite regularly, also at night.
