Delhi isn’t ideal for solo female travel—stick to a group or take the help of a lcoal. Dress modestly to blend in, stay alert, and research areas in advance. Central & South Delhi are safer; but avoid travelling alone at night.

I know Delhi doesn't have the reputation of being a safe city for women. I have been a resident for 10 years and I haven't faced too many problems - could be because I'm an introvert. I think there are some places and times which are more comfortable for women than others. Definitely some planning is required to know the correct places to visit, timings, mode of transport and places of stay. Which is unfortunate - but can be planned around. Don't let this stop you from exploring all that Delhi has to offer.

All of Delhi is not safe. But, most of it is. It is infamous for being unsafe, but I have lived here most of my life and I can assure you, it's not as bad as the media makes it out to be. There are areas that I would avoid at certain times, but I often take cabs all over Delhi, alone, even at 2 am if needed, and I have not had any bad experiences. Clothing wise, its slightly restrictive compared to the Western countries, but not too bad. Again, you need to know what place will have what attire acceptable. I highly recommend making an indian friend who's from Delhi to guide you.
Posted: January 26, 2025Areas like greater Kailash okhla and Nehru place are relatively safer. But seelampur have a few gang related activities. Since it is crowded here, during daytime,it is much safer, but need to be cautious at night
Posted: January 12, 2025Delhi is not just the geographic capital of India but also the rape capital. The crime level is very high, and it's highly dangerous for women to travel alone. While keeping these points in mind, I'd also like to say you do fine good people as well. We just need to be careful and be prepared.

Hi, Delhi in India is not that safe for a woman traveling alone. Please always be accompanied with someone and always keep paper spray in your bag. But its a beautiful city, capital of India. Worth visiting.
Posted: January 1, 2025As a woman and having 25 years of experience in this city, I have sensed danger in witnessing the reckless driving at night usually by the big car models. Another thing is sexual harassment (both minor and major) of women and marginalised which is ongoing and ever rising therefore a tool of self defence needs to be carried for one’s safety. Late night plans and parties anywhere usually consists of unsafe and heavy energies.
Posted: December 24, 2024To be honest I haven't experienced such situations but once i came out of my PG to bring some food stuff at 8pm. I got commented by a group of 2 boys on my way. So i felt nervous and went back without going forward
Posted: August 1, 2024I went many years back when I was in 11th grade and didn't feel very safe cause even when I was inside a car men were staring at me which made me feel uncomfortable even though I was with my parents

I’m always looking for my next adventure—whether it’s exploring a new city, wandering through ancient ruins, or just getting lost in local markets. With a background in anthropology and archaeology, I love uncovering the hidden layers of a place—its history, culture, and the stories that shaped it. I’ve done field research in India, so if you ever need offbeat recommendations or a deep dive into local history, I’m your person! When I travel, I love striking up conversations with people, trying new foods (spice is non-negotiable), and soaking in the little details that make every place unique.
