Veszprém is a cultural capital of Hungary. Lived here for two years, I can say that the city has earned this status. In two years I never felt unsafe, even when returning alone late at night. Veszprém is a university town, there are many students and young people in general. Almost all the young people here speak English and are always happy to help. The older generation speaks German.
