I have lived in Zagreb for years and haven’t had a bad or scary experience. I feel safe walking alone at dark. There are some neighbourhoods that are generally less safe (possibility of theft), but they are on the outskirts, so I doubt visitors would found themselves there.
Posted: July 27, 2025Hii, this is for all the girlies coming to Zagreb, i’ve lived here my whole life and never had any problems or was afraid to walk alone at night. Tho i would like to mention that a neighbourhood called Dubrava is the least safe part of Zagreb so i would not recommend booking an apartment there. Any place alse is quite nice. Have a safe trip ladies!
Posted: July 15, 2025A small city that you can walk through easily from end to end. Unfortunately there isn’t much to do in Zagreb but it does have some good nature trails that you can get on directly from the city. The people are not very friendly but the men are helpful if you’re a woman who is dressed in conventionally feminine clothing
Posted: June 28, 2025Zagreb is safe, even at night. It's the safest capital in Europe. Public transportation is secure. People are willing to help if they see something unusual. I never felt threatened or unsafe, even after walking from the club at 3am.
Posted: June 13, 2025This may come as a surprise to many people but countries of SE Europe are one of the safest places to be. That includes Zagreb, Croatia, where you have no worries about your safety. I have been living there for almost 8 years and I have NEVER experienced any form of harassment just because I'm a woman. That being said - and here comes the most politically incorrect thing ever but I truly don't care - over the past few years, Zagreb has been filled with foreign workers (mostly India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh) doing low-wage jobs no other person here wants to do (typical European story). Even though there wasn't an official case of misconduct (yet), I already know too many instances of my friends and acquaintances feeling unsafe because these guys weirdly approach them or bother them. Whether it be a guy walking behind you on a Friday night and shouting "I just need a friend" in the heaviest accent ever, or a group of them staring at you like a piece of meat in public transport, people need to know these things happen. So just a heads up when it comes to that. If you ever feel unsafe or bothered in any way, you can always turn to the first grocery shop, kiosk, or whatever place it may be and try to communicate what is happening, or just hide away and avoid these types of people.

I felt super safe in Zagreb, the food is quite good and in general, the city isn't very expensive. The city itself isn't that big but it's beautiful, have some historical aura to it. The tourist attractions are okay.
