How safe is Zadar?

overall, I would say it's very safe. there is no beggars and no homeless people around. no pickpocketing. only during summer months, professional thievs (pickpockets) from other Croatian and European cities are "active", mostly at beaches, trying to steal phones, cameras, money... other than that, never have i had to worry where is my wallet or phone, is my bag zipped, not walking nor in city buses. with years I developed a fear of walking alone anywhere at night (after midnight), before midnight I feel generally safe because its still a time when someone would be awake and there would be some traffic. "legal thieves" are taxi drivers who overcharge drives. so don't take taxi at bus station, always negotiate the price before the drive (ask what it would aprox. cost), or use Uber and/or Bolt app.

Solo travel

Zadar felt extremely safe at all times of day. I recommend the local stores Limun and Liliput for one of a kind souvenirs by Croatian Artists. Luna Tours for a day tour to some nearby islands and Morita for the best Pizza I've ever had in my life!

Solo travel

I spent a long weekend in Zadar and I was thrilled. Very clean, amazing seafood (I tried octopus salad for the first time, super fresh and delicious!).
