Rovinj is considered one of the safest places for solo female travellers. It is. It was my first time travelling solo. I encountered an old pervert who touched me inappropriately in his shop in broad daylight. He touched me again and again. I said no but I was so shocked that I didnot say it out in a strong disgusted tone nor did I walk out immediately. When I finally got out, it took me few minutes to realise what happened. It was definitely not his first rodeo. The day was so bad for me, I just sat in my room the entire day. I rang up my airbnb lady and told her about the incident. I would still say Rovinj is a safe place. But perverts exist everywhere. I hope I can be quick on my feet next time if I’m ever put in such a situation.
Posted: July 14, 2024I visited Rovinj for 3 days in July 2022. We stayed in an appartment in old town. I would say that accomodation can be quite expensive. We spent time there mostly by chilling at the beach. There are some beaches in the town, but we went to the beaches around, since they were calmer and still close (walking distance). However, I would recommend watching sunset on a rock beach under the church - it is very pretty, you can also swim and jump off a cliff there. There are a lot of pretty boutique shops, great ice cream and restaurants. I would reccomend visiting restaurant Santa Croce - experience and food was 10/10. I will definitely visit again. It is a bit pricier but definitely worth it! It is a struggle to find parking if you are travelling by car. I googled it and found a free parking - we had to walk a bit to the apartment but better than overpaying for a closer parking space (which would still not be very close, since you can/t get into the old town with a car). The parking was busy but we managet to get a space. The town is small and a bit on the pricier side, ut you can still find cheaper options to eat. For example, we enjoyed a lunch at restaurant Dario. There were a lot of locals eating there, food was good and price was normal. There are some tourist attractions - museum etc., but we didn/t visit those, since it wasn/t what we were interested in. I had a great time in Rovinj and will definitely visit again! Don/t miss out on watching the sunset from the church bell!
