Toronto is the kind of place you can walk around at 4 am by yourself in heels and the most that will happen is you’ll see a crackhead screaming incoherently in a parking lot across the street from you

I visited Toronto for 4 days with a friend. We walked around even at night, and I didn’t feel unsafe. I wouldn’t say I felt scared, but if I were alone, I’d probably feel more anxious, especially in unfamiliar areas

Toronto is generally safe, even as a large city. Just stay alert in the subway and at night, like in any major urban area. There are some people struggling with addiction — not necessarily dangerous, but often unpredictable

Toronto is fairly safe but petty crimes are rampant in the city. Best to know when and where to go anywhere! Avoid alleys and dark spaces after sunset, avoid interacting with homeless people, get a sense of which boroughs and localities are worth visiting from the locales
Posted: June 10, 2025It was quite okay, I was living in a safe area, but while I was going on a walk with my friend to the downtown or to other areas at night it was kinda dangerous. Even while we were at the gas station there was a really high -drunk guy, who was really rude to my friend. Hopefully I wasn't alone at night at all.

Toronto is safe for the most part. It really depends where you are within the city and within neighbouring cities. Overall during the day you should be relatively safe. Just try to know where you’re going and be aware of your surroundings. At nicgut, I would not recommend being by yourself when you’re Downtown. In the suburbs, it is generally ok (again it depends what part of the city you are in) but just have a eye out. Crime has increased within the last few years so it’s important to know where you’re going to get a sense of the safety level in that area.

Toronto has improved tremendously over the last years! The food scene and club scene have both expended with nice, trendy and upscale spots to rediscover. As for safety, there is an homeless situation going on downtown, so I would just avoid that area after dark. Otherwise? Completely safe. As for budget, there is something for every price point - you just gotta research a bit of everything online and be willing to explore according to what you’re looking for. Great city for a quick weekend reset, with a good balance of things to do. The aquarium is a must.

Hotels and airbnb can be quite expensive. Groceries aren’t cheap either but going out to eat is reasonably priced. Lots of homeless people!! They seem to mostly mind their own business but it felt pretty unsafe. Some parks are completely taken over by homeless camps. They also can come up to you to ask for money or food. Sometimes I buy them something, adding more to the travel costs. Avoid routes coming past homeless shelters to avoid seeing them. Little Italy is a nice place to stay. Kensington Market is cute to visit for cafes, thrift shopping and music.
