It is a smaller city in Belgium where it is pretty safe! I walk alone at night all the time and never felt really unsafe:) you usually won't see a lot of people on the streets at night. Around the station you can have weird drunk people but just avoid those.
Posted: November 21, 2024Brussels feels safe I think, but it strongly depends on where and what area’s. I would say like usually: keep your guards and don’t go everywhere/anytime. Most places that are touristical are located in the center which is a safe area.
Posted: November 21, 2024Alken is a very safe place. It is a very quiet village. There isn't much to do. I'm not worried about any crime. The people here are friendly but not very open to new people.

Brussels is a very nice and diverse city, but the truth is that it’s not that safe as a girl alone especially at night. During the day you will only have to worry about getting your phone stolen or maybe even being catcalled. I would avoid sketchy neighbourhoods at night. But the city is amazing - I love living here. The art & culture scene is amazing and the city really benefits from the diversity.
Posted: October 18, 2024I would say it is generally safe. I go to school in Brussels, where there is the most “crime” in all of Belgium. But I always feel quite safe. Going out I would really be alert, because I heard some cases of drinks of girls getting spiked. But as a woman, you will always feel a little but unsafe or uncomfortable. So it is always necessary to be alert.
Posted: October 10, 2024Brussels is mostly safe, but there are a few places you should avoid at night. For example, around Nord Station, you might feel uneasy because there are often many refugees and homeless people gathered there. While serious problems are uncommon, it’s a good idea to stay in well-lit and busy areas after dark.

Most of the time I feel safe, but I know I have to lock my bicycle and take care of not being mugged. At night I do mostly feel safe walking around. In the city centre there is always police around. But it is a student city and people do drink too much.
Posted: October 5, 2024Namur is one of the safest city I know for girls. I like going out late at night and do it frequently, coming back home late and alone is not a problem. Of course we hear things and you can get harassed by guys but not like in big towns.
Posted: October 3, 2024Antwerp is a safe city for women in my experience as a foreigner who lives here about 1.5 years. But you need to consider avoiding trusting strangers and giving them your personal information and watching your personal stuff in crowded places.

It totally depends where you are! In the historical centre, you should be fine. Around the train stations, however, it can get very sketchy and sometimes dangerous. Especially around Gare du Midi (Zuidstation) and the back entrance in particular of the North station, you should be very careful. It’s then mostly a danger of getting robbed from what I’ve heard. In some areas of Schaerbeek, and St Josse you should also be vigilant.

I felt safe in Belgium in general “not really in the evening”. I like that they are a week ticket for students with only 20 euros and we can go to all Beligum with train. I got lucky that someone hosted me and I felt pretty safe in the neighborhood in Brussels.

Belgium
I visited Belgium and stayed in Brussels with a friend. I explored the Grand Place, tasted amazing chocolates and waffles, and enjoyed the vibrant culture and beautiful architecture. It was unforgettable!

I have lived in Singapore and India before, moved to Brussels for a new job few months back. I am a talkative and a silent person at different times;). I love to do yoga, dance, listen to music, art and crafts ( origami, painting, or anything), I love to cook and am a very organised person. I love to explore new places and meet new people, try new cuisines. I am a very clean and tidy person, and very respectful of other person’s space.
