It's fine but really stay away from the trainstation when it's getting dark. When you have to, don't go alone but with a friend. There is police security but not the whole time. So be carefull. Overall the city is very safe

Aalst is a safe town for female travelers. You can safely walk around alone and use public transport. Around the station it might happen that some young people are making trouble, but as long as you don't interfere, it won't be a problem. The police is also taking care of it.
