Personally, I feel very safe in Antwerp when walking through the city (even during the night). Most of the time you are not alone outside and there are enough people to feel safe. Antwerp is known for drug activities because of its port. Therefore, its best to stay in the centrum at night.
Posted: January 12, 2025Antwerp is a safe city. Especially the center and the south part of the city. Public transport is also very safe (of course there are bad people everywhere) but in my twenty years of living there I have never been harrased. Avoid the neighborhoods behind the central station at night like borgerhout and het kiel and you’ll be fine! :)

Growing up in antwerp I have always felt safe, not having a lot of weird encounters with strangers. But like most cities, women best stay a little extra alert for safety reasons. Catcalling happens, and I have a lot of girlfriends who did have weird/ sexual encounters with men, usually on public transport. Always keep that extra eye on yourself

I think Antwerp is pretty save, however I prefer to use my bike in the dark so I'm always quick home of needed. I never feel alone in the dark, which feels save. However there are some places where the homeless are hanging around. Those I feel like are less save, but it is easy to skip those places and the police is always close if needed.
Posted: December 30, 2024Antwerp is safe if you stay in fancier neighborhoods like zuid , the city center . Avoid northern areas at night , or at all. Being careful in areas just east of central train station. Still a fairly safe place , and ok with bike or public transport even at night
Posted: December 25, 2024Antwerp is a safe city for women in my experience as a foreigner who lives here about 1.5 years. But you need to consider avoiding trusting strangers and giving them your personal information and watching your personal stuff in crowded places.

Very save, just stay away from central station at certain hours. Like 4 of 5 am. I mostly bicke back home from the cafe or local bar, and I feel okay. Uber feels pretty safe, too. During the day, try to pay attention to your bag, especially around Central Station and meir. It is too crowded and some people can have long fingers.

Antwerp is a safe city to travel to as a female solo traveller. Just be careful at night in the area around the station. You might experience some cat calling, but overall you don’t need to worry. The city center and student area are very safe. During the day, you won’t experience any trouble.

Overall Antwerp is pretty safe if you know where to stay away when it's gotten dark. In my neigbourhood (Harmonie) I always feel very safe at night. The touristy places are also pretty safe at night.

It depends on where you go really! There are a lot of people whistling or calling after woman in certain areas. But the city centre is very safe! There are always a lot of people and over all we are all very social and helpful!

I always felt very safe in Antwerp during the day but also at night. There is a lot to do a lot of cute cafés, cool museums and also a lot of political events happening all the time. It rains a lot there tho and it is a very windy city as well. The people I have met were all very friendly and spoke great English. A lot of men kept winking at me or whistling at me but never anything more.

I visited Antwerp in September, which was a good choice as the weather was excellent for sightseeing: 20°C and the city itself lends itself to walking. If you only speak English, be prepared for some inconveniences as locals (understandably) might not be able to communicate in that language. Regarding the most important bit: I felt safe in the city and in my hotel, no one bothered me. I really recommend getting the Antwerp pass, as most museums are included in that and they have a great selection in the area and the price is absolutely fair. The city has amazing food, I recommend visiting the chocolate shops and getting waffles from street vendors-much cheaper and even better tasting! The prices can be higher then some other places in Europe, especially in restaurants so I recommend checking your options before going. Otherwise you will not spend too much money on activities if you buy the pass, so you can save money there. I do have to warn you, that the hotel, flights, food, and souvenirs may add up but it's worth it:)) This was my first solo trip, I loved the experience and I gained valuable insight during this short holiday!
